"I'm not sure exactly what Mike gave Helen or said to her, but in the end, she gave up," Lisa said. She continued, strangely, "Later, she said something I didn't quite understand."
"What did she say?"
"Something about considering things before becoming a stepmother, and that Mike might not be as good a person as I thought. That's about it," Lisa replied, admitting she couldn't recall the exact wording.
Lily was confused. "Y-You should take things into consideration?"
"It's not directed at me; it's you!" Lisa corrected.
"Me?!" Lily exclaimed, surprised.
"Yes, she was talking about you. That's why I found it strange. You've only met her once. I don't understand why she's targeting you. It seems she thinks you want to be Nick's stepmother. Why would she think you'd want to be with Mike?" Lisa questioned.
"I have no idea!" Lily replied. She would have almost forgotten about Mike if Lisa hadn't mentioned him; she had nothing to do with him. After leaving Westwood, she only planned to stay in touch with Lisa, Wesley, and a few close friends. Everyone else was irrelevant.
"That's so weird," Lisa said.
Lily nodded. "It is. However, I don't think she's thinking straight. Otherwise, she wouldn't have used a child to blackmail a man who doesn't even love her. That's not something a normal person would do."
"You're right!" Lisa sighed, finding the whole situation bizarre. She'd decided to tell Lily because she knew Lily had a boyfriend. How could she possibly get together with Mike?
"By the way, how are you and your boyfriend?" she asked casually.
The mention of Alexander brought Lily's thoughts to his recent attentive and careful behavior. Their relationship was already public.
"We're good!" Lily smiled. "I'm getting married soon."
"Really?!" Lisa's eyes lit up. "Then can I be a bridesmaid?"
Lily chuckled. Lisa was thinking far ahead! However, the mention of bridesmaids made Lily even more excited about the wedding. She hadn't thought much about it when she first got her marriage certificate, but her excitement remained.
