Chapter 521
"That meant he gave the green light to use the photo? Is he aware that the shot was taken at an awkward angle that invites misinterpretation?"
"Have you seen the photo?" Lily asked again. Alexander shook his head. He had been so busy; he'd simply said yes to his assistant's request and hadn't followed up. He only knew the newspapers and magazines had published the photo as gossip. Whenever he tried to look it up, something interrupted him, and he'd forget about it. Only now was he reminded.
"Why? Did you see it? How is it? Do we look like a perfect match?" Alexander asked with great interest.
Lily didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "Perfect match?! We're so perfect that, by only showing half of my body, you can tell we're a couple!"
"Look at it yourself," Lily said, taking out her phone and searching the internet for the news before showing it to him. Alexander fell silent when he saw the photo. His eyes narrowed as he studied it.
"Where am I?" Lily pointed to a corner of the picture. "Who do you think this is?"
Alexander continued to stare quietly before returning her phone, taking out his own, and dialing a number. "Which news outlet took our photo?" he asked. Lily couldn't hear the other end of the conversation, but then Alexander said, "The reporter who took the photo can be laid off." Lily was speechless. How could this man be so cruel? He just made a call to lay someone off without a second thought! This must be the behavior of a devil!
"How could you blame someone else for this?" Lily whispered. "Didn't you agree to it?"
"I didn't know the photo was taken like this! What an idiot! How could they publish this photo?!" Alexander was furious. What the hell is this?!
"Maybe they thought you and Olivia were a couple."
Hearing this, Alexander narrowed his eyes threateningly. "Are you making fun of me?"
"I wouldn't dare!" Lily quickly defended herself, sticking out her tongue. However, the smile on her lips betrayed her. "I just think Olivia has suffered a lot because of me."
"Don't worry. I'll help you get justice!"
Initially, Lily didn't understand. Soon, she did. As their car drove into a gated community, another car waited outside. When the other vehicle saw them, its occupants got out. Lily recognized the manโBrandon Oakleyโwhom she'd met two days prior. The woman looked familiar.
Alexander rolled down his window and glanced over lightly as Brandon approached with a gleaming smile. "Well, if it isn't Fourth Russell."
Brandon rarely used Alexander's nickname, causing Alexander to narrow his eyes slightly.
"We're together," Alexander said to the security guard, then rolled up his window and slowly drove in. Lily saw the other two get back into their car and follow. After parking, Alexander didn't wait for them. He took her hand and led her into the house. Lily looked back, but Alexander pulled her forward. "Don't worry about them!"
