Seeing Lily's quick agreement, Jenny smirked disdainfully. Although Rebirth was a newly established company under the La Beauté Group, its staff were the industry's best. This made Jenny resent Lily's employment. She welcomed the opportunity to reject Lily from her team and ultimately fire her.
"You better not back out of our deal! I hate people like that!" Jenny added quickly, fearing Lily's regret.
"Relax, I won't. Just like you, I hate those people too," Lily replied, nodding.
Raising an eyebrow, Jenny gestured toward a table. "Come here."
Lily approached. She soon noticed three identical fragrance bottles. The liquid levels appeared equal. Given her industry experience, she recognized them as samples for new product testing.
Fragrance companies conduct extensive testing on new product lines. Perfumers perform repeated stability tests to identify flaws, relying on their olfactory sensitivity.
Lily waited silently beside Jenny. "These three were rejected. Why do you think they failed to meet standards?" Jenny gestured toward the bottles. The others at the table exchanged surprised glances but remained silent.
Lily looked at Jenny, seemingly questioning the simplicity of the task.
Jenny ignored her, leaning back, eagerly anticipating Lily's response.
Calmly, Lily examined each bottle—without opening them—observing the liquid. This unusual approach drew unfriendly stares; her colleagues expected her to fail.
This hostility stemmed from recent news. Most employees knew Lily and held a negative opinion of her, believing she had shared confidential information from her previous employer to join Rebirth.
Lily sensed the hostility but remained confident in her abilities. After carefully observing the bottles, she returned them to their places and looked at Jenny.
Jenny sipped her tea, patiently awaiting Lily's assessment. She was surprised by Lily's failure to even smell the fragrances. "That's it? You're giving up already?" Jenny laughed mockingly. "Very well, I won't embarrass you further since you're clearly—"
"Ms. Thorn, you're such a joker," Lily interrupted, surprising Jenny.
"Why would the company reject these? They're prized assets—the newly introduced line, released about half a month ago and selling like hotcakes," Lily calmly explained.
