Chapter 597

It was already noon when Lily woke. Feeling much more energetic after a good rest, she cleaned herself and prepared to leave. She had asked Kasey for her address the previous night, but Kasey had only given her phone number. To avoid disappointment, Lily left earlier than planned. While leaving, she dialed the number; it connected quickly.

"Lily, where will we meet later? By the way, are the fields ready? I want to check them out." Lily had reached the gate by the time she finished speaking. Kasey's hesitant reply came through the phone. "I-I'm sorry, I can't sell the grass anymore. I was just bragging; I don't have as much as I said."

"What?" Lily's worst-case scenario had materialized. High expectations often led to disappointment. However, Kasey's hesitation made her suspect something more was amiss.

Lily said firmly, "Are you dissatisfied with the price? We can discuss that. I guarantee my payment will satisfy you, provided the quality meets my expectations."

Kasey replied, "No, it's not the price. I genuinely don't have much stock left."

Lily turned, arms akimbo, to face the gate. It was closed tight. More than that, the garden trees were gone. She remembered the noise during her sleep; she'd seen Noah ordering someone to cut down a tree from her window. Since the tree belonged to him, he could do as he pleased. Did he think he could somehow trap her without that tree?

The empty garden lacked even a patch of shade, making Kasey's words even more irritating. "Well, it doesn't matter if there isn't much. Tell me where you found it or how many you have. I'll take whatever you have. If not, can you recommend someone who grows it?"

After some hesitation, Kasey continued, "I only have a phone number. He's the one who has it."

"Okay, give me the number. You don't need to worry about anything else."

After hanging up, Lily waited for the message, then dialed the number. The phone rang for a long time unanswered. She couldn't tell if the number was fake or if the person was deliberately ignoring her.

Determined to conduct business, she remained patient. It wasn't until the third call that someone answered, sounding lazy. "Who's calling?"

"Hello, Kasey gave me your number. I wanted to ask if you have any brassica?" Kasey had referred to the grass as brassica; Lily wasn't sure if that was the correct name or if she simply didn't recognize it.

"Yeah," the lazy voice drawled, "What's up?"

"Let's get straight to the point. I want to buy it. Would it be convenient to meet and discuss the price?"

"I'm okay, but I don't know if it would be convenient for you?" The voice sounded strangely familiar, unnervingly close to her, for reasons she couldn't explain.

"I have no inconveniences, but I hope I can see the brassica when I meet you." She wasn't sure if this was the real seller, but she wouldn't pass up the opportunity.

"That's no problem. I'm just afraid you can't afford my asking price."

"We can negotiate that, discuss it in person." Lily wasn't interested in going in circles. "Let's make an appointment. How about this afternoon?"
