Chapter 628

She personally handed the candle to Justin, unconcerned about potential problems.

"After you brought the candle back, did you light it yourself, or did you give it to the housekeeper?"

Taking a deep look at her, as if gauging her thoughts, Justin's lips moved slightly. He faintly uttered two words: "Uncle Roger."

Lily remained silent.

Roger needed no explanation. Deeply devoted to Wilfred and a longtime servant, his loyalty to the Lodge family was unquestionable.

Therefore, suspicion fell on the three of them. Since Lily and Justin couldn't dispute the facts, Henry and Jonathan saw an opportunity to attack. At that moment, neither their guilt nor innocence was certain.

"This is a conspiracy!" Lily's hand clenched. "How vicious!"

This wasn't simply a frame-up. She needed to identify who tampered with the candle.

"I must find the real murderer who killed my grandfather!"

"Then what?" Justin asked calmly.

"Make him pay the price!"

"If they dared to do this, they would have already destroyed the evidence," Justin said, standing and taking two steps toward the door. Pointing down the corridor, he continued, "You know, the Lodge family has never used security cameras. Even if they acted outside Grandpa's room, as long as they weren't caught in the act, there'd be no evidence."

Lily frowned, looking in the direction he indicated.

Justin was right. The culprit had exploited this lack of security, catching them completely off guard. Had that not been the case, they would have found clues.

"I remember something called forensic science," Justin said, retracting his hand and turning to her. "I believe evidence exists if a crime was committed. I'll find my grandfather's real murderer! Although there's no conclusive evidence now, it's not so hard to guess who that person is, right?"

His words cut deeply. She insisted on finding the murderer, yet did she truly have any leads?

Henry's unexpected return, and his invitation to several elders for a discussion, felt suspicious. The elders didn't openly oppose Justin, but their bias was evident, and they could easily strip him of his power. The timing felt contrived.

However...

Deep down, Lily didn't want to believe it. Yet, considering their opposition to Henry, they couldn't underestimate his capabilities. Henry had been expelled from the Lodge family at a young age. Even if Lily didn't care for him, he was still her uncle, a Lodge. Could he be behind the murder, seeking to seize power? Lily refused to believe it.

After a pause, she softly asked, "Are you afraid of chaos in the Lodge family? Was that why you relinquished your power so quickly?"

If Justin had retained power, a rift would have formed between his supporters and the elders backing Henry, plunging the Lodge household into irreparable disarray.
