Chapter 655

"What? You gave him my seat?!" Nathaniel exclaimed, having just returned from out of town and entering the office to this unwelcome news.

"Why are you so anxious? It's just a district manager position for that project. Is your vision that limited?" Arianna said coldly, anticipating his reaction.

"I've only been in this seat for a few days. What will others think if I give it up now? My dear sister, if you're not even able to let me stay as district manager, it means I'm nothing compared to that brat. Now I'm starting to doubt your ability," Nathaniel sneered, tugging at his tie.

Arianna remained calm. "Don't you think this is a good opportunity to get rid of him?"

"What do you mean?" Nathaniel was still angry.

"Think about it. Why does Damian want this position?" Arianna asked, a mocking smile playing on her lips. "He wants to take credit! He knows that any project achievements will make him a hero. He has Father's support, and Father even helped him build relationships with the company's old-timers. He's waiting to achieve something, then climb the corporate ladder. Ultimately, Damian will take everything!" Her calm narration belied the deepening hatred in her eyes, a hatred she kept carefully concealed. 'My father has worked hard, investing significant money and effort to support Damian. But why? Damian is an illegitimate child. What right does he have to enter the Tanner family and take so much from me?' Arianna had strived for her father's love since childhood, always obedient, yet never his favorite. She craved revenge.

"Do you mean there's a fine line between success and failure?" Nathaniel asked, slowly recovering from his initial shock and seeking to understand Arianna's plan.

Arianna nodded. "Yes. If this project succeeds, it will be a great achievement. However, what if there's a mistake? A serious mistake? Then the manager will be held responsible. My dear Nate, how could I let you bear that responsibility? Since he's eager to be our scapegoat, why stop him? Let him have it." She outlined her plan, her excitement palpable.

Nathaniel laughed. "But if something goes wrong, our good and conscientious father will clear Damian's responsibilities at all costs. I might still take the blame." He had another concern. If Damian led the project and tried to sabotage him, someone would still need to cover for Damian's mistakes.

Arianna, having anticipated this, replied disapprovingly, "It doesn't matter. Don't worry. Damian will be taking the blame, and he won't escape. Father doesn't have the final say in Tanner Corporation. You do what you need to and help me keep an eye on the brat. Don't let him cause unnecessary trouble."

"Okay, I understand." Having resolved the matter, Nathaniel no longer cared about the temporary position and was eager to avoid further argument. "Then I'll go to bed."

"Wait!" Arianna stopped him. "You haven't told me about Sapphine. Can you guarantee it will go smoothly?"

"I've given Henry what he needs. He's not that unethical. I've also arranged for someone to keep an eye on him, and he's already contacted the company elders. He has weaknesses; if you can exploit them, everything will be under control."

Lying in bed, Nathaniel continued his call with Arianna. "Just wait and see. There will be results tomorrow. And even if we're stagnant and lack sufficient evidence, we have other ways to deal with him."

"Other ways?" Arianna laughed. "You're too naive! Did you forget the Lodge family's kickboxing background? Do you think Henry is acting alone if you take action against him?"
