Chapter 66
Melanie's mind raced. Nathaniel's words left her wondering if there was anything more she could do. Though she couldn't think of anything, she could only nod in response to his repeated urging. "Okay, I'll try my best!"
"I knew you're the best!" Nathaniel said happily. "Regarding Lily, I intend to speak with her again. I want to see if she has any ulterior motives."
Sitting by the cafe window, Lily cut a small piece of cake with a spoon while scrolling through her phone. The door swung open. Olivia entered hurriedly, glanced around, and went straight to Lily's table. "Cappuccino and mille-feuille, please," Olivia ordered casually, setting down her bag and sighing.
"Was a killer chasing you?" Lily asked curiously.
"Lily, don't joke about that!" Lily laughed at Olivia's grumpy expression. Reaching out, she pinched Olivia's cheek. "Has Nathaniel been giving you a hard time lately?"
"That villain!" Olivia fumed at the mention of Nathaniel. "He asked me to be Melanie's assistant and help her develop new products. Isn't that ridiculous?" She continued, exasperated, "Can you believe it? Melanie? What does she know?"
Lily chuckled. "Don't say that. She's a certified professional with numerous awards."
"Awards, my foot!" Olivia scoffed. "Does that justify stealing your credit, your man, and now trying to defame you? There are no words for how shameless she is! I'm outraged!"
Lily placed a finger to her lips. "Shh He's not 'my man' anymore."
"Hey, why are you so calm? Have you seen what people are saying online? I'm about to explode! I'm arguing with them! It's outrageous they deleted my comments!"
"Y-you quarreled with them?" Lily hadn't seen Olivia's post yet. Nathaniel had apparently hired someone to monitor online discussions. The lengths he went to!
