Chapter 689
Despite the lack of caller ID, Lily recognized the number; Kingsland had contacted her frequently a few months prior. She answered, remaining silent until the other party spoke.
"Is this Lily Christian?" the person demanded impatiently.
"Yes," Lily replied.
"Lily Christian, the Perfumers' Society has decided to revoke your license and you will be questioned and investigated!" the man said rudely, his tone arrogant. Lily smirked at Alexander. "Who will be questioning me?" she asked.
The man, unprepared for her calm demeanor, paused. "The Society, of course! You've caused controversy and shamed the perfume industry. We're considering suspending your qualification. After questioning and a background check, we'll decide whether to reinstate you."
To emphasize the seriousness of the situation, he paused, then continued severely: "We're not joking. Your actions have harmed our industry. As a perfumer, how could you say something so irresponsible? If the tests are positive, you could lose your qualification permanently, ending your career!"
He expected fear and submission, but Lily laughed.
"Are you even listening? Ms. Christian! It doesn't matter what background you have; you can't escape the Perfumers' Society's surveillance. Now, the Society has only chosen toโ" Lily interrupted, "I'm sorry, but I've never taken the licensing examination. You don't have to worry about revoking my license because I don't have one."
Stunned, the man was speechless.
"As for questioning or a background check, feel free. And if the entire perfume industry is affected by me, then the Perfumers' Society is quite incompetent at crisis management," she concluded, hanging up.
Lily sighed, looking at Alexander. He still held her hand, his expression calm. He didn't seem surprised by the conversation.
"Aren't you curious?" Lily asked.
"Curious about what?" he replied, confused.
"Why I don't have a perfumer's license?" Lily tilted her head, smiling. Mischievously, she tickled his palm before continuing, "I'm an employee at your company, and I don't have a license."
Alexander blinked, glancing at her. "Is that license useful?" he asked, his lack of concern evident.
