Chapter 736
Damian was silent for a while, then whispered, "Mom doesn't know much. She's a woman, after all. Don't be angry, Dad. Since it's resolved, let it go. Don't worry, I'll coax her. She just loses her temper sometimes, but she doesn't mean it. She'll be okay after her rant.
Mom has been with you for so many years. You should understand her character by now. She was impulsive at the auction because she had suppressed her feelings for too long. Please forgive her this time." Seeing his son's sincerity, Joseph felt more at ease. "Alright," he said, "I was just complaining. You're right, your mother has that temper. I'll go buy her a diamond necklace later; that'll do."
"Well, then Dad, I'm going out to work."
Joseph nodded. "Go."
After Damian left, Joseph let out a long sigh of relief. Later, Damian reflected that Elizabeth had been too abrupt. If things hadn't been handled well, it could have angered Joseph. At least I won't lose my father's favor over a necklace, he thought.
Damian then checked on the progress of his advertisements. He had enlisted Naomi Schiffer, a supermodel with a global fan base, to promote the entire product line. From the perfume to the model, the box design, and even breaking into the worldwide market, his expectations were high. He wasn't concerned with the local market; he aimed for an instant global hit. Then, no one in the company would dare to underestimate him.
Lily spent the day in the laboratory, only noticing her sore neck when she finally left. She had spent the past few days researching the ingredient Benedict had given her, purposefully refining it for observation. Its unique properties intrigued her. The general aroma tone usually changes with volatilization, but this ingredient did not. The shift was so subtle that nobody would have noticed it without looking for it. In other words, the fragrance's stability was remarkably strongโan interesting discovery. She wasn't sure how it would perform as a perfume or essential oil. Of course, this was only a preliminary idea, and the specific implementation didn't guarantee the final result.
Speaking of which, she hadn't seen or heard from Benedict in a while.
"Lily, there you are! I almost went in to find you," a colleague called from outside.
"What's wrong?" Lily asked, applying hand cream.
"Someone came looking for you."
The woman escorted Lily to the lobby. "She was here all afternoon," she explained. "I offered to call you, but she wouldn't let me, so she just waited. I'm almost off work, so I thought I should let you know."
