Arianna nodded. "Of course!"
The meeting ended abruptly. Damian was stunned. He felt pained and lost, unsure of what to do next.
"Arianna Tanner, what are you trying to do?" he demanded, grabbing her arm.
"Mr. Damian, what are you doing?" Arianna asked, without struggling. She frowned. "You're hurting me."
Ignoring her, Damian became more aggressive. "Is this part of your plan? You're trying to frame me, aren't you? Why did you suggest inspecting our perfume? Are you saying there's something wrong with it?!" His voice boomed, attracting the attention of others in the lounge. Everyone watched, silent, as their two bosses clashed.
"Mr. Damian, please calm down," Arianna said calmly. "We need to solve this problem. Yelling at me is useless. Let me go."
"No! Tell me the truth!"
"What truth? This is unexpected. If you think I'm sabotaging you, solve it yourself." She dumped the PR department's crisis-management documents into his arms. He barely caught them.
"Did I cause this? You're in charge of the perfume project. Now something's happened, I have to clean up your mess, and you're blaming me? Since you're so capable, solve it yourself!"
Arianna shrugged him off and left. Damian stood there, stunned, before regaining his composure.
"I didn't mean it that way! When you suggested a self-inspection, didn't that imply you suspected a problem with the perfume?"
"Would it help if I said the perfume is fine?" Arianna asked, pressing the elevator button after crossing her arms. Rage pulsed through her. "Even if I tell the media and consumers the perfume is fine, a supermodel has slandered us. Who do you think people will believe?"
Damian was speechless.
"The only thing that will help is evidence! Without it, no one will listen. Do you know how big a scandal it was when La Beauté Group's perfume was rumored to be poisonous? A company like La Beauté Group barely handled it. How can we, newcomers, solve this?"
Damian was humbled.
"Then?" he began.
"Then get the factory to pack and send all remaining perfume for testing," Arianna ordered. "We need to be fast!"
