Chapter 806

Something would eventually disturb the peace and tranquility of the place.

"Aunt Stephanie," Arianna greeted, holding a folder.

Stephanie nodded. "Ari, I know you're here to see your uncle, but he's unable to receive visitors right now."

"I don't want to bother Uncle Derrick, but something came up at the company, and I need his advice. Also" Arianna lowered her head, tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, and smiled. "I'm not a visitor!"

"That's" Stephanie hesitated. A cough, followed by the sound of phlegm and Derrick's voice, came from the room. "Isthat Ari? Let her in."

Stephanie stepped aside, her expression conflicted. Arianna, happy to have permission, entered Derrick's hospital ward with a smile. The ward was clean, with fresh flowers in a vase. A faint floral scent lingered. However, Derrick looked thinner; his face was pale and his complexion poor.

"Uncle Derrick, you look great today!" Arianna lied.

"Oh dear, you're so wrong. My health is worsening daily! Cough" Derrick coughed again.

"How could that be?" Arianna adjusted his pillow. "You're just sick, and you'll be fine with some rest. Why did you get sick so suddenly? You've always been so strong." Derrick gasped for breath.

"Exactly! I guess older adults just get sick. I'm an old man now. Oh, right, tell your parents to prioritize their health and get regular checkups. If they have even minor illnesses, they should treat them promptly, instead of letting them worsen like mine!" Another coughing fit followed.

Arianna patted his back. "Uncle Derrick, slow down."

"Ari, you're such a good girl. I'd be lucky to have a daughter like you," Derrick sighed, looking even weaker after the coughing.

"Uncle Derrick, you can consider me your daughter! Benedictisn't around anymore. I'll take care of you in the future."

"What did you say?" Derrick sat up, startled.

Stephanie, who had been quietly tidying, interjected. "Ari, I'm sure you have a lot of work. Perhaps you could visit another time? He needs to rest."

"Iโ€”it was a slip of the tongue," Arianna covered her lips, looking shocked and remorseful. "Uncle Derrick, I'll be going now. Get some rest."

Derrick, surprisingly strong, held her wrist. "Ari, wait! Explain what you meant. What do you mean Benny isn't around anymore?"
