"We suspect you're involved in a commercial crime. Please come with us," the officer said sternly. Lily frowned. "Commercial crime? What's happening? Did the Perfumers' Society accuse me?" she asked, adding, "That would be funny, if so."

The officer shook his head. "It's the Tanner Corporation. They accuse you of conspiring with their manager, Mr. Damian Tanner, to add prohibited ingredients to their perfumes for personal gain. We need your cooperation in the investigation." He was unusually polite; typically, the police would take suspects to the station without explanation.

Lily was surprised. "Tanner? Who?" she murmured, barely remembering the name. "Mr. Tanner? I wonder who that is."

"Please come with us," the officer said, showing his credentials.

"Okay, I'll go," Lily replied, wanting to understand the situation.

Olivia intervened. "Wait! We don't even know Mr. Tanner, let alone colluded with him! This is slander! You can't arrest someone randomly!"

"That's not your decision. We must investigate. Interfering will constitute obstruction of justice," the officer retorted.

Olivia protested, but Lily stopped her. "It's okay. I'll find out what's going on. I want to know how the Tanners implicated me." The absurdity of it struck her. Had she really conspired with the Tanner Corporation? Beyond minor interactions with Arianna, Eloise, and Nathaniel, she knew no one else. How could they frame her without evidence? She appeased Olivia with a shake of her head and left with the police.

Olivia, watching the police car depart, was distraught. She called Edward: "Edward, something terrible happened! The police took Lily away!"

Meanwhile, Joseph burst into Arianna's office, slamming his hands on his desk, sending papers flying. He ignored the open door, glaring at Arianna. "This is your idea? You want your brother dead?!"

Initially, he'd thought letting Lily and La Beauté Group take the blame was best, but he hadn't anticipated his son's involvement. The police had contacted him to arrest Damian. The company had reported both Lily and Damian; the revelation stunned him. He hadn't expected Damian to be involved. Ultimately, he had failed to protect his son. Since Arianna filed the case under the company's name, they should have targeted her instead.

Overwhelmed by recent events, Joseph felt paralyzed. He knew Damian's involvement meant the end.
