"Ari, what you told me before was all a lie?" Joseph asked, trembling. "You helped Damian in the beginning, just to watch him fall… No, you were the one who dug the hole, right?"
Arianna smiled mockingly. "That depends on how you look at it. I dug a hole, but I planned to lay the foundation and build a tall building. Damian insisted on snatching it. He took it, but instead of building, he continued digging and then leaping into it. What else could I do?"
She wasn't to blame. Damian chose to jump into the trap. She simply didn't stop him.
"Alright, great!" Joseph slumped onto the sofa, utterly ashamed. "I didn't see it coming. My baby girl, how could you deceive me?"
"Dad, there's more," she said coldly. "Over the years, I've done much for the company. You ignored my talents and abilities, focusing only on that idiot son of yours. Just because he's a man, he easily got what I've worked for half my life. Why? You still want me to assist and support him? Is he worthy?"
"Now that you know what he did with his pig brain, what ability does he have to take over Tanner Corporation?"
"Is this why you dug a hole for him? Did you start planning when I brought him into Tanner Corporation?"
Only now did Joseph truly understand. After a pause, he asked wearily, "Is your mother involved?"
"She wasn't involved, but she was aware," Arianna replied honestly. "Dad, did you naively think two women could coexist peacefully? My mother worked half her life for the Tanner family. Why should she accept a bastard entering her family? Why should she accept your son born to another woman?"
"But I haven't mistreated you and your mother all these years…"
Arianna interrupted. "It's what you should do! Dad, would you have accepted it if Mom brought a son born to another man home? Could you be open-minded and happy for him to join this family and even let him inherit Tanner's property?"
"She is not worthy of it!" Joseph barked, furious at the thought.
Arianna smiled, reminding him of the parallel, but Joseph still didn't grasp it.
"Compare those situations, Dad. This matter is settled. You should give up!" She sat down, picked up her teacup, and sipped slowly.
She revealed the truth now because everything was settled; there would be no reversals. That little bastard would never enter the Tanner family again.
