Chapter 878

Lily followed the police to the station, uncertain about the situation. The police, aware of her relationship with Alexander, were courteous, though she remained unconvinced of her innocence. They led her to a room, offered hot tea, and began the interrogation.

"Ms. Christian," the officer began, "Mr. Damian claims he bribed you and that you added harmful ingredients to Victory perfume. Is this true?"

"I did no such thing," Lily replied calmly. "I don't know Mr. Damian; I'd never even heard of him until the Tanner Corporation made its accusations."

"If you're innocent, why would Mr. Damian target you? Do you have any grievances against him or the Tanners?" the officer pressed.

Lily responded evenly, "No. Why Mr. Damian accused me is a question for him. Furthermore, I believe his evidence—photos, recordings, etc.—can withstand forensic scrutiny. I've done nothing wrong and welcome a thorough investigation. I have a clear conscience."

The interrogation was routine; lacking solid evidence beyond Damian's unilateral statement, the officer summoned Damian for further questioning. "You accused Ms. Christian of adding harmful ingredients. Do you have any proof? For example, a handwritten perfume formula?"

Damian smiled condescendingly. "She wouldn't be foolish enough to write it by hand. Everyone uses computers these days."

"So you have no other evidence?" the officer asked.

"Haven't I already provided everything? My testimony is evidence. What more do you need? I've confessed; why would I falsely accuse her? I apologize to my family's business, but I didn't realize the additive was harmful. I only asked her to make the perfume addictive. I didn't know she would add…"

Despite repeated questioning, Damian's response remained consistent.

"Without substantial evidence, we can't convict Ms. Christian. Dishonesty will lengthen your sentence. Do you want to spend the rest of your life in prison?" the officer asked. Damian's lips twitched. After a pause, he nodded heavily. "I did it all. Charge me accordingly!"

He spoke with an air of righteousness, almost as if seeking to portray himself as a hero rather than a guilty party.

"Mr. Damian, don't play the hero. You're going to jail!"

"I know…"

A knock interrupted. An officer entered, signaling the interrogating officer to leave. "Someone bailed Mr. Damian." The interrogating officer was astonished. "Bail? How is that possible?!" He turned to see Damian, initially stunned, now smiling.
