Chapter 892
Eloise felt a pang of sadness thinking about her daughter. After their last meeting, Arianna had refused to see her again. It had been some time since Eloise had last seen her daughter, leaving her uncertain of Arianna's well-being in jail.
"My sister?" Nathaniel raised an eyebrow, chuckling. "If I remember correctly, I'm your only son. I don't have a sister!"
"Though you have different fathers, I gave birth to both of you. That makes her your sister," Eloise explained.
"She's not!" Nathaniel roared. "If she's my fucking sister, why did she grow up wealthy, enjoying every privilege? Why does she have both parents, while I have nothing and endure constant mockery as an unwanted bastard? Why could she have an easy life, openly calling you 'Mom' in public, while I could only wait for you to contact me and couldn't even call you that? Now you tell me she's my sister? Sorry, I don't have one. I've always been fucking alone!"
Eloise was stunned by his outburst. She hadn't realized the depth of his resentment. "N-Nate, I…"
"All right. If you're only here to persuade me, say nothing and go home." He turned away, unwilling to discuss it further. Eloise pursed her lips. "Even if you don't consider her your sister, can you spare her for my sake? She saved you once, at least."
"Saved me? She was only trying to use me!" Nathaniel snorted, his gaze fixed on the view outside. "You know your precious daughter is a schemer. If I hadn't acted first while she was dealing with Damian, I'd be the one in jail!"
Nathaniel wasn't exaggerating. He knew the police would see through Damian taking the fall. If the investigation continued, Arianna would have made him a scapegoat.
"But now you've won, can't you stop?" Eloise pleaded. "No!" he answered firmly. "Save your breath. I don't want to hear it. Still, you're my mother, and I won't forget you just because I've gotten what I want. You'll still enjoy a comfortable life, and you no longer have to answer to Joseph Tanner."
"Nate…"
"Oh, yes, you've been close to Derrick Tanner and his wife. You must know them well, right?" Nathaniel asked, changing the subject.
Eloise was surprised. "Why?"
"Since you're close to them, you should be able to persuade them, right?" He'd tried threats and offers, but Derrick remained unmoved, refusing to sign the share transfer agreement. If Eloise had leverage with them, perhaps she could influence them. "What do you want them to agree to?"
Knowing he held Derrick and Stephanie, Eloise suspected the answer, but wanted to hear it from him.
"I've got a contract here. Bring it over and get Derrick to sign it. We can discuss the terms, but they must sign it!"
Nathaniel rummaged through a drawer, producing a document. Eloise took it, examining it. "It's the share transfer agreement."
