Chapter 907
"Derrick, even if I'm wrong, please help me care for Damian and Ari," Joseph said hesitantly. He had nowhere else to turn; they were brothers, after all. He hoped blood ties would prevail, and Derrick would help.
"We'll discuss it later. They're Tanner family children, after all. However, all company matters will fall under Benny's purview going forward. I won't interfere with personnel changes; HR will handle that, along with Benny. Rest assured, your children won't suffer."
That was the best Derrick could offer. Continued nepotism would sink Tanner Corporation. Joseph's gaze fell; he'd hoped his children could rejoin the company, even in less senior roles. But with Benedict's authority and Derrick's statement, it seemed hopeless.
"Then there's nothing more to say," Joseph sighed. "By the way, how did you devise such a sophisticated plan? Before your hospitalization, we all followed the rules."
"Following the rules?" Derrick sneered. "Do you honestly think I'm unaware of what happens behind closed doors? Do you think I'm blind to the company's troubled projects? Do you think I've never questioned suppliers about their materials?"
Joseph was stunned; Derrick had always feigned ignorance. His dissatisfaction vanished. "I see."
"I'll leave you to rest. I—" The door opened before Derrick could finish.
Eloise stood there, surprised to see him. Embarrassment flickered across her face before she smoothed her hair. "D-Derrick, you're here."
"Mhm," Derrick nodded, noting her discomfort. "Since you're here, I'll leave you two. I'm leaving as well."
"Derrick, wait!" she called, then turned to Joseph. "Since you're here, listen. I have something to say."
Derrick stayed, noticing the folder in her hand. Eloise opened it, revealing documents and a pen. "Joseph, sign this."
Joseph's face turned ashen. "Divorce papers?! Eloise, have you lost your mind? Why now?!" He tried to sit up, but the effort was too much.
"I know it's unusual, but I can't delay any longer. I've had enough," Eloise stated. "I've hired a lawyer; the terms are fair. I won't take advantage, but I'll take what I deserve."
