Listen to this chapter:

Seeing me trying to dodge him, Jared cupped my face with both hands and kissed me even deeper and more intensely.

โ€œJared, are you crazy?โ€ I thought. He was acting like a dog in heat today, not caring about where we were at all. Back then, if the environment wasnโ€™t just right, or if there wasnโ€™t a big bed, heโ€™d never be in the mood to make love. He wouldnโ€™t even be interested unless I took off every last piece of clothing. Menโ€™s words were nothing but sweet lies.

โ€œIโ€™m not crazy,โ€ he said in a hoarse voice. โ€œI didnโ€™t even drink today, and Iโ€™m not drunk.โ€

I pushed him away with both hands, my voice annoyed. โ€œThis is a garage. Can you show me some respect?โ€

โ€œVictoria, sometimes a change of scenery can really change the mood.โ€ Jaredโ€™s voice was calm, but his actions didnโ€™t slow down at all.

Seeing I was still resisting, he half-carried, half-dragged me to the back seat. With those long legs and arms of his, it wasnโ€™t easy for him to maneuver, but when a guy was in the mood, there was just no stopping him.

โ€œNo,โ€ I protested, still struggling at the last second. โ€œWe donโ€™t have any protection.โ€

But Jared just kissed me even harder, his lips rough and deep. โ€œArenโ€™t we trying to pray for a baby anyway?โ€

My eyes went wide in disbelief. This bastard actually wanted a son.

While I was still stunned, Jared entered me.

All my strength slowly drained away, my body completely out of control. Thinking about the 100 thousand dollars Jared gave Aiden, I thought, โ€˜Whatever. Itโ€™s just the usual sex. Iโ€™m also enjoying it.โ€

Jared was really fired up today, switching things up and going at it twice before finally turning in his homework. He was in a much better mood afterward. Seeing me still sprawled out, he laughed and teased, โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong? Did I wear you out?โ€

That was when I finally managed to sit up, fixed my clothes, and went to open the garage door. Just then, a few female staffers with files in their arms spotted us. They didnโ€™t catch the whole scene. They just got spooked and bolted. All they probably saw was me and, behind me, Jaredโ€™s long legs sticking out, his face still hidden.

I kept my face stiff as we got into the elevator, not daring to look at Jared. When we got to the first floor, I was about to walk off when Jared grabbed my wrist and asked, โ€œWhere are you off to now?โ€

โ€œGetting the morning-after pill.โ€ I tossed over my shoulder, striding out. I had no idea what kind of look Jared had on his face, but one thing was certain: there was no way I was letting myself get pregnant again.

By the time I got back from the pharmacy, rumors about what happened in the garage were already quietly making the rounds at the office.

Chapter 115

I was just bored, so I purposely hung out in a less crowded restroom, waiting to hear what kind of gossip people were spreading about me. Sitting on the toilet lid, I watched as my phoneโ€™s last bit of battery finally died right in front of me.

โ€˜Ugh, how annoying,โ€™ I wondered. I was hoping to kill some time scrolling on my phone, but I guessed I would have to go charge it first. I reached out to push the door open. Suddenly, I heard the sound of high heels coming in, and it sounded like there was more than one person.

Then I heard a womanโ€™s voice say, โ€œMs. Darwin, that gossip going around has to be fake, right? It was just the garage door opening, but people are acting like their marriage is some kind of perfect fairy tale.โ€

Tracy replied coolly, โ€œI donโ€™t care what they say. It doesnโ€™t affect me. Jaredโ€™s partnership with my dad has just started, and all I want is for our familiesโ€™ businesses to work more closely together as soon as possible.โ€

โ€œMs. Darwin, do you love him?โ€ the other woman asked curiously. โ€œHe is a married man, after all.โ€

Tracy smiled. โ€œTo me, heโ€™s still the same Jared I knew all those years ago. Whether heโ€™s married or has kids, none of that matters to me.โ€

โ€œBut I heard Mrs. Holcomb is pretty wild. Donโ€™t let things get out of hand,โ€ the woman said in a hushed voice.

Tracy scoffed, โ€œI donโ€™t even take her seriously. Sheโ€™s just some girl from a small town. No matter how wildly she acts, sheโ€™s nothing but a sideshow clown.โ€
