Chapter 515

Ryan was the kind of guy who always knew how to make you feel better. When it came to emotional support, he was flawless.

I slipped my hand into his big, warm hand. He squeezed it softly and helped me into a seat.

โ€œLetโ€™s go,โ€ Ryan told the driver.

The car immediately headed toward the city. Ryan handed me a bottle of water. โ€œAre you tired?โ€

I took a sip and said, โ€œNot really, but I am a bit hungry.โ€

โ€œLetโ€™s get you something to eat,โ€ Ryan said, taking off his sunglasses and hat, his bright smile lighting up his whole face.

I couldnโ€™t help but swoon for a second as I looked at him. Ryan just radiated health and energyโ€“no wonder his lips were so red and his teeth so white.

I already knew just how hot and young his body was. Ifโ€ฆ

If I could really have this man by my side for a lifetime, if we could love each other forever, maybe I could actually think about marrying again.

โ€œVic, spacing out again?โ€ Ryan said, sounding a little annoyed as he snapped his fingers in front of my face.

The snap jolted me back, and I quickly shook off those silly thoughts.

Whatโ€™s the point of getting married, anyway? Just to take some guyโ€™s last name and be someoneโ€™s Mrs.?

Then you have a kid with his name, and when you fight, all it takes is one โ€˜Youโ€™re not really familyโ€˜ to erase everything youโ€™ve done.

I pressed my lips together and smiled. Yeah, maybe marriage just isnโ€™t for me.

โ€œI wasnโ€™t spacing out. I was just admiring how handsome you are,โ€ Vic said with a smile, trying to reassure him.

Ryan blushed, his ears turning a little pink. โ€œReally? Do you think Iโ€™m better looking than your last two boyfriends?โ€

Vic blinked in surprise. โ€œWhy would you ask that?โ€

Ryanโ€™s voice dropped, sounding a little insecure. โ€œJared and Nathan are probably better-looking than me. Theyโ€™re the ones women usually go crazy for.โ€

That explained why Ryan sometimes felt a little self-conscious about his looksโ€“my exes were just too handsome.

โ€œTheyโ€™re just older than you, so they come off as more mature and steady. Most women want a husband who seems reliableโ€“sure, looks are nice, but what really matters is whatโ€™s on the inside,โ€ Vic said, trying to reassure him.

โ€œReally?โ€ Ryan asked, actually taking her words to heart.

Vic nodded. โ€œHonestly, your biggest advantage is that youโ€™re young.โ€

Ryan lowered his head, a shy smile playing on his lips before he looked back at her. โ€œYou donโ€™t think Iโ€™m too clingy, do you?โ€

โ€œItโ€™s fine, youโ€™re not that annoying,โ€ Vic replied with a grin.

โ€œAnnoying?โ€ Ryanโ€™s eyes darkened, and he gave Vic those big puppy eyes. โ€œDid I mess something up?โ€

Vic was caught off guard. People always said dating a younger guy meant you had to do a lot of reassuringโ€“turns out, itโ€™s true.

โ€œYouโ€™re doing great, donโ€™t overthink it,โ€ Vic said, giving his arm a reassuring pat.

Ryan stiffened up, and his face flushed bright red.

You really couldnโ€™t tease a young guy like himโ€“they got flustered way too easily.

Trying to lighten the mood, Vic asked Ryan to tell her about what was outside and the neighborhood. Ryan was relieved to finally talk about something else.

The place Ryan took her for dinner was a hidden courtyard restaurant. From the outside, it looked unremarkable, but inside, it was like stepping into a secret world.

It didnโ€™t look like the kind of spot that was open to just anyone. The moment Ryan walked in, the staff immediately recognized him and respectfully escorted them straight to a private room.

Ryan pulled out a chair for Vic, โ€œSit down. What do you want to eat?โ€

The waiter handed Vic a menu with a big smile. As she flipped through it, she noticed there were no prices anywhere, but the menu was packed with all kinds of dishes.

Vic picked out two of her favorite dishes and passed the menu to Ryan.

Ryan ordered a few more dishes, and after the waiter left, he poured her a cup of hot tea. โ€œDid you bring a jacket? Itโ€™s getting chilly here.โ€

Thatโ€™s when Vic noticed Ryan was dressed in a gray hoodieโ€“he looked so youthful and full of energy in it.

โ€œYeah, I brought one, but I was planning to buy a few more here,โ€ Vic said. She hadnโ€™t packed much, figuring sheโ€™d just shop for clothes locally.

โ€œIโ€™ll have someone send you some clothes,โ€ Ryan offered out of the blue.

โ€œNo need, I can buy my own,โ€ Vic replied. She didnโ€™t want to keep accepting favors from him.

Ryanโ€™s eyes sparkled with amusement. โ€œYouโ€™re my girlfriend now. Spoiling you is just what a boyfriendโ€™s supposed to do.โ€

โ€œBut I canโ€™t just spend all your money. It wouldnโ€™t feel right,โ€ Vic said with a smile.

Ryan blinked his deep, dark eyes, looking mysterious. โ€œRelax, Iโ€™ve got plenty in my account. Go ahead, splurge all you want.โ€

โ€œI never wouldโ€™ve guessed youโ€™d join the diplomatic corps and become such a young diplomat,โ€ Vic said, unable to hide her admiration.
