Chapter 191: Nathael's Love Letter

"You'll know once you look at it," Nathael said in a deep voice.

Maggie glanced at him and opened the box. Inside, she found a limited-edition Judok doll. It wasn't from the same series as Lucas's gift, but it was a discontinued limited edition.

"Isn't this doll discontinued? How did you manage to get it?" Maggie's eyes sparkled with surprise, momentarily forgetting her earlier determination to hold him accountable.

The doll Nathael gave her wore a luxurious and exquisite sky-blue gown. Seated on a miniature stage, one hand supported her chin, her small mouth slightly pouting, as if frustrated and angry.

"It's so cute!" Maggie exclaimed. She'd always had a weakness for dolls from this brand. "Ughโ€ฆ"

She'd loved it at first sight as a child, and even after seeing redesigned versions, her affection remained. Perhaps because she couldn't have it then, she still felt delighted all these years later.

A small envelope nestled in the doll's other hand, like a love letter from someone else.

Maggie was stunned. Then, taking the envelope, she looked at Nathael. "This shouldn't be a prop, right?"

"Yeah," Nathael responded with a nod, his eyes profound.

Maggie eyed him suspiciously, then lowered her head to open the envelope. Inside, she found words written in strong, sharp handwriting, exceptionally beautiful:

'Dear Maggie,

The moment I saw you, all things paled in comparison.

From now on, I desire only one thing: to be called yours, tempting me to fall, driving me to madness.

I do not seek salvation in the next life, nor do I hope for transcendence. I only long to meet you in this life.

I have wasted time and indulged in drunkenness, but now I fear the parting of life and death, longing instead for us to be together day and night.

From south to north, from the dazzling stars to the rising sun, I love you. Across countless cycles of day and night, I am determined to be with you through life and death!

From, Nathael.'

Maggie stared blankly at the letter, feeling a sense of surrealism wash over her. He'd written her a love letterโ€ฆ

Initially, asking him to write a letter of repentance had been a spur-of-the-moment challenge born of anger; she'd hoped it would appease her. The love letter itself was an offhand remark.

Unexpectedly, he'd written it.

Maggie's gaze fell on the strong handwriting, unable to decipher his state of mind as he wrote. Her eyes reddened. She wondered why her tears seemed so readily available today.

Maggie closed her eyes, refusing to let them fall. He mustn't know he'd already secured his next life; otherwise, they wouldn't have met.

However, she still found it hard to believe that he, a perfect and dazzling man, would write her a love letter. But what had she done to deserve such profound love?

Nathael's eyes were as dark as ink, his beautiful, narrow gaze fixed on her, filled with undiluted emotion.

Maggie sniffled and looked up. "You wrote it indeed."

Nathael sat on the sofa and pulled her onto his lap, speaking in a deep voice. "If it weren't for the injury, I would have given it to you much earlier." Maggie wrapped her arms around his neck. Her eyes reddened as she looked at him. "Do you love me a lot?"

"Yes," Nathael responded.

Maggie kissed him passionately. Nathael deepened the kiss, his movements gentle.

After a while, Maggie leaned against him, her eyes slightly red, a gentle smile curving her lips. "You wrote it well," she praised generously.

Nathael smiled softly. "Are you still angry?"

Maggie lowered her gaze. "A little bit," she admitted. "More concern, really."

Nathael chuckled mischievously. "Does that mean I'll have to write another letter of repentance while injured?"

Maggie glared at him. "You better take good care of your injury. If you accidentally get hurt, become disabled, or die before your time, don't expect me to feel sorry for you."

Nathael raised an eyebrow, his eyes darkening. "Is that so?"

"Yeah! If you die, I'll take my new flame to dance on your grave!" Maggie smirked, glaring at him warningly.

Nathael squinted, pinning her beneath him. "Maggie, say that again!" he ground out between his teeth.

"Anyway, I've already figured out the type of person I want as my new flame. You'd better leave me a large inheritance so I can enjoy a happy life with someone else and have a house full of children," Maggie said provocatively. She thought this approach might be more effective than persuasion. He could be quite petty.

Nathael's gaze turned gloomy, but he couldn't help laughing. The tenderness vanished instantly. He pinched her chin and spoke coldly, "You heartless little girl! You can try and see if I won't break your legs!"

Maggie didn't dare repeat it, tiptoeing on the edge of his anger. She curved her eyes and spoke softly, "Don't be so impulsive, young man. We'll talk about it later."

Nathael's face tensed, frustrated. The thought of her with another man made him jealous and mad. He'd once thought it would be okay if someone else loved her, but now he couldn't bear it. He wanted to destroy everything if it couldn't be him.

Seeing his ashen face, Maggie kissed his cheek. "Don't worry, while you're alive, I'm still going to love you the most!"

"Maggie, are you trying to get yourself killed?" Nathael was furious, wanting to strangle her, yet unable to harm her. He felt a deep ache of frustration.

The next day, at noon, Maggie slept until the sun was high. Nathael wasn't there.

She checked her phone, finding a text message detailing the time, location, and agenda for the university's piano competition preliminary round. The dean and her teacher had messaged, concerned.

After replying, Maggie logged into her "Gianna" account, retrieved the doll, took a photo, and posted it on Instagram with the caption: "Today is a day full of love." She received many comments. Though a secondary account, "Gianna" had a substantial following. No one knew her, but it was a space to share secrets and joys.
