Chapter 324: It's Mine
Nathael frowned. He didn't like her silence. "Say something!"
Maggie tilted her head mischievously, playfully testing him. "What if I really want to break up with you?"
The moment the words left her lips, she sensed a shift in his aura. All the warmth, peaceful moments, and gentle indulgence seemed to shatter.
Nathael's eyes darkened, his long, narrow eyes filling with an intense darkness, like stormy clouds on the horizon. The sky outside seemed to turn gray, mirroring the storm brewing within him.
Maggie felt his hand around her waist tighten, the force nearly crushing her bones. Silence stretched, an eternity, before he finally spoke, just as she was about to lose her composure.
"That's not a funny joke," Nathael said coldly, his voice sharp and piercing. Chilling hostility etched his features, hardening his handsome face.
Maggie wanted to change the subject. She wrapped her arm around his and asked, "What made you think of bringing me here?" She liked the amusement park, but it seemed so unlike him.
"I thought you'd like it," Nathael replied slowly, his expression distant, the earlier joke still lingering in his mind.
Maggie didn't mind. "As long as I'm with you, I like it wherever we go," she replied softly.
Nathael glanced down at her; his cold expression softened slightly. "These are cute," Maggie said, tugging him toward a headband vendor.
Night had fallen, and the brightly blinking headbands attracted children and teenagers alike. She let go of his hand and chose a red-lit mouse headband, placing it on her head. Turning to Nathael, she asked, "Does it look nice?"
In the dazzling lights, her beautiful eyes reflected his image, creating a scene so beautiful it felt dreamlike. "Looks great," Nathael said, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly.
Maggie smiled and picked out a devil horn headband, standing on tiptoe to place it on Nathael's head. Her eyes gleamed with mischief.
Nathael frowned slightly, clearly unaccustomed to the situation. He looked at her smile and didn't flinch. After placing the headband, Maggie examined her handiwork, raising an eyebrow. "Tsk, tsk. He looks stunning."
His sharp featuresโshort hair, sharp eyebrows, narrow eyes, high nose, and thin lipsโwere perfectly sculpted. The headbands made them even more noticeable, transforming them into walking light bulbs that drew many glances.
Maggie muttered, "Why do I feel like a monkey in a circus?"
He chuckled, his grin revealing his fangs. "There wouldn't be a monkey this beautiful," he said gently, taking her hand. "Gosh! He's so handsome. So, so attractive!"
(The following paragraph seems out of place and should be considered for removal or relocation, as it breaks the narrative flow.) "Td really like his number, but I think he has a girlfriend." "Having a girlfriend shouldn't be a big deal, right? It's not like he'd give me his number anyway."
Several girls eyed Nathael, whispering excitedly, eager to approach. When they started to move, Maggie laughed softly and turned to Nathael. "Someone wants your number, Mr. Harris."
He glanced at her, noticing the mischief in her eyes. Without hesitation, he pulled her into an embrace and kissed her. At that moment, fireworks erupted above the castleโreds, yellows, blues, greens, and purples illuminating the night sky.
Maggie was stunned. She noticed the approaching girls halt, their faces reddening at the sight of the kiss.
"So many people are watching us," Maggie said, a hint of annoyance in her voice, her face flushed. Kissing wasn't the problem; it was the audience.
Nathael remained unfazed. He looked at the girls, who stood about two meters away. "Seen enough?" he asked deeply. Maggie buried her face in his chest, mortified, wishing she could disappear.
The girls blushed even more, quickly turning and fleeing.
Maggie breathed a sigh of relief. "You really have no shame," she said mischievously.
"Thank you for the compliment," he replied calmly, holding her close.
A clown approached, beaming. "Hey there! Photo? Guaranteed satisfaction!" He showed them photos, enthusiastically promoting his skills, the atmosphere, the angle, the lighting, andโmost importantlyโ"you two! So passionate! The lady so shy, the gentleman so absorbed! A perfect match!" Maggie's eyelid twitched; she wanted him to stop.
Though it was just a kiss, he made it sound extraordinary. Nathael examined the photos, then handed over a wad of cash. "Keep the change." He pulled Maggie away, clearly wanting no more chatter.
The photographer shouted after them, "Take care! Bring your kids back next year!" Maggie's eye twitched. "What the hell!"
"Let me see the photos!" Maggie said, suddenly curious.
"Nope," Nathael said, raising an eyebrow.
"Nathael! I'm in those photos!" Maggie exclaimed, irritated, reaching for them.
He held the photos high. Maggie jumped, but couldn't reach.
"They're mine," he said, amusement in his eyes.
"I just want to see them! Let me see!" Maggie felt small, insignificant, worthless.
