Chapter 329: They Deserve to Die

Nathael struggled to contain the rage boiling within him. The urge to kill Sebastian burned in his mind. He was about to confront Sebastian when Leo burst in.

Leo, having witnessed the events, was equally furious. Without a second thought, he dropped his medicine bag and attacked Sebastian.

"What are you doing?" Nathael exclaimed. The usually composed teenager was unusually volatile.

Leo grabbed Sebastian's collar and punched him. Sebastian, looking disheveled, tried to explain but ultimately remained silent.

Nathael, his face darkening, left the scene. Later, he arranged to send Sebastian abroad and effectively trapped him there. It wasn't until two years later that Sebastian learned of Nathael's existence.

Maggie, noticing Nathael's distraction, asked, "What are you thinking about?"

Nathael snapped to attention. His gaze settled on hers. "No more drinking when you're out," he said sternly.

Maggie blinked, pouting in disbelief. What did drinking have to do with anything? What was he thinking?

Nathael, sensing her silence, wrapped an arm around her waist and leaned in. In a hoarse voice, he urged, "Say something."

Maggie, annoyed, replied in a grieving tone, "Why should I? How come you get to drink?"

Nathael replied, "Then I'll stop drinking first."

"Don't!" Maggie nearly cried. She had faith in his self-discipline, but she still wanted the occasional drink. "How about I only drink when you're around or at home?" she suggested softly.

Nathael considered this and eventually agreed. Maggie sighed in relief. Nathael's absence had been noticeable ever since the incident with Sebastian.

When Maggie and Leo were receiving lessons from Kevin and his wife, Sebastian's rebellious streak often caused trouble. However, they eventually realized that beneath his tough exterior lay a soft heart. He was fiercely protective of both of them.

After his falling out with his father and his departure abroad, they lost touch. His first two years must have been difficult, marked by intermittent contact and multiple phone losses. As they grew older, their connection faded, their close friendship dwindling to simple greetings and limited conversation.

Maggie leaned her head on Nathael's shoulder, feeling a wave of sadness. Time was frightening; it could turn close friends into strangers.

What about her and Nathael? Would they, too, become strangers one day? The thought tightened her chest, replacing her earlier happiness with gloom.

Maggie closed her eyes, recalling her previous life. In that timeline, Sebastian had returned two years later and visited twice. Joseph, however, disliked him and often spoke ill of him. Though she disagreed with Joseph, she didn't want to betray the Camerons' trust and slowly distanced herself from Sebastian.

Later, when she married Nathael, Sebastian didn't attend but sent a generous gift. Their wedding was a private affair, attended only by her and Nathael, as she wished to see no one else. Afterward, they saw each other rarely. She only heard once from Mia that Sebastian and Joseph had fought, leaving Joseph with a black eye. Their business conflict with the Camerons had caused considerable trouble. By then, Maggie had lost faith in Joseph, but she still felt gratitude towards the Camerons for raising her. Hearing about the fight, she felt only that Sebastian's actions were justified.

Thinking back, Maggie realized Sebastian had always disliked Joseph, even during her time at Kevin's house. He often ridiculed Joseph, mocking Maggie's choice in men. Maggie sighed deeply, wondering how Sebastian had seen through Joseph's facade while she had been utterly blind. Her judgment had been flawed, her mind clouded, allowing the Camerons to deceive her completely.

After returning home, Maggie showered, sat on her bed, and stared at the ring on her handโ€”a symbol of her love with Nathael, along with a red bracelet.

Nathael seemed to be on the phone in his study, so Maggie texted Leo: 'Sebastian is back. Let's visit Mr. Dunphy soon.'

Leo replied, "Okay." Shortly after, he called. "Where are you? Can we talk?"

"I'm at Nathael's; he's in the study," Maggie replied softly.

"How's your health? Anything unusual?" Leo asked, standing before a French window. His usually gentle demeanor held a hint of weariness and hostility. Documents about Dream Venom piled up on his desk.

"Not really, just a bit tired," Maggie replied, unsure if it was anything to worry about. Since Timothy's kidnapping, she hadn't felt quite herself.

"Tell Nathael to take it easy," Leo said, his voice irritated.

Maggie's ears flushed. "It's not him; I've just been busy lately," she quickly replied.

Leo didn't respond, lighting a cigarette but remaining on the call. Maggie, sensing his mood, said softly, "I'm fine. Master Harris agreed to help find Iris from the Hudsons. We've been tracking Flora and Waylon's whereabouts. Waylon's been missing for years, but Flora doesn't seem to be abroad. Samuel found someone who resembled her in Aquapolis about four years ago."

"Okay, no rush," Maggie reassured him. "The Hudsons' help is good enough." They fell silent for a moment before Maggie asked, "Does Lucas know about this?"

"No. I just told him I'm helping a friend," Leo replied.

Maggie exhaled in relief. "Let's not worry him."

Hearing the study door open, Maggie ended the call after a brief chat with Leo.

Leo remained by the window, his icy expression darkening, his eyes filled with menacing melancholy. The Dream Venom documents indicated excruciating pain, worsening with each attack. He couldn't bear the thought of Maggie suffering. His rage against the Camerons intensified. Each of them deserved to die.
