Chapter 339: Incredibly Sweet

Perhaps it was the spicy wings they’d eaten, but his lips looked darker than usual—a tempting, ripe-apple red, radiating surprising warmth. Maggie smiled softly, blinking innocently at him.

Nathael gulped, suddenly finding the noodles in his bowl less appealing. He couldn’t even manage the wings.

His intense gaze landed on her curved lips. He said, deeply, "You can kiss me."

Maggie was speechless for a moment. Seeing his composed manner, her cheeks flushed slightly. This guy really didn't care about appearances at all. After they finished eating, they packed up several servings, following Maggie’s plan. Since the noodles and soup were separated, she wasn’t worried about them getting soggy. Alex took care of the delivery; Maggie didn’t go herself. Both were full and satisfied—Maggie feeling stuffed—so they decided to hold hands and continue their stroll down the street.

The commercial street bustled with activity. In addition to various snacks and treats, there were many performances: singers with guitars, impromptu stages set up by drama groups, and various street performers. Music, shouts, and constant excitement filled the air. Maggie didn’t feel like buying anything, but she enjoyed the hustle and bustle.

“Cotton candy! Cotton candy! Every style imaginable!”

A man’s loud call caught Maggie’s attention. A crowd had gathered around his stall, so Maggie immediately pulled Nathael over. They weren’t close enough, so she had to stand on tiptoe to see better.

“Sir, can you make anything out of cotton candy?” Maggie asked.

“Anything, Miss!” The man’s hands never stopped moving. The melted sugar quickly formed a unicorn. People clapped and cheered; someone eagerly took the candy, exclaiming, “It looks exactly like a unicorn!”

Maggie agreed; it might not be highly detailed, but it was clearly a unicorn at a glance.

Maggie thought of the brooch she was making for Nathael—an outline of his face. Perhaps this cotton candy would have a similar effect, though not as intricate. “What would you like me to make, Miss?” the man smiled.

“Him,” Maggie said, her cheeks pinkening slightly as she pointed at Nathael.

The man looked Nathael up and down. “Wow, young man, you’re really handsome!”

Hearing this, Nathael paid and said, “I want one of her, too.”

The man chuckled. “Young people are so sweet.”

He expertly crafted the outline of a head, using different colored melted sugars for the hair, face, and body. He glanced up occasionally but didn’t scrutinize closely, yet the resemblance was remarkable.

“I’m done, Miss. Here you go. Just be careful not to ruin your husband’s face,” the man joked, laughing.

Maggie took it, amazed.

She held Nathael’s cotton candy figure—half his body mounted on a stick—with sharp features and narrow, deep eyes hinting at gentleness. “You can totally see it’s you,” Maggie remarked involuntarily.

The man’s cotton candy figure of Maggie resembled her drawings of him, albeit less delicate. Still, Maggie was content. Soon, he crafted a figure of Maggie, her hair flowing, her smile radiant, evoking happiness.

“Hey, young man, wouldn’t you feel bad eating your girlfriend?” the man joked.

Nathael took it, examining it for a while, seemingly unsatisfied. Even the most skilled artist would struggle to capture her beauty, let alone a cotton candy maker.

But Maggie’s happiness brought him joy. Especially when their cotton candy figures were placed side by side.

Maggie hesitated to eat hers. She and Nathael took a photo together, holding each other’s figures.

Shortly after, Maggie spotted chocolate-covered strawberries.

“Come and try our big, sweet chocolate strawberries!” the vendor called enthusiastically.

“Hey, young man, want one for your wife?” the vendor asked, smiling.

Nathael, caught off guard, paused, smiled, and agreed. “Sure.”

He personally selected a box of large strawberries and handed them to Maggie.

Maggie blushed, feeling like a child again. Ronald and Olivia would sometimes bring her chocolate-covered strawberries. She cherished those moments, finding them more meaningful than expensive jewelry. It wasn’t just the strawberries; it was the care. In hindsight, it seemed ridiculous. She wished she’d asked for expensive delicacies and jewelry. She couldn’t believe she’d once been moved by a box of strawberries.

Tsk. I was so naive!

Regaining her composure, Maggie took a bite, still feeling full, believing strawberries were nutritious. The sour and sweet flavors danced on her tongue. It was refreshing and delicious.

“Yum,” Maggie said with satisfaction. She loved this taste; even after all these years, it still brought her joy.

Nathael’s gaze lingered on her face, admiring her clear eyes and satisfied expression.

“Is it that good?” he asked softly, his eyes full of indulgence.

“You should try some; I can’t finish all of these,” Maggie suggested earnestly.

Nathael held her waist, pulled her close, and kissed her, taking the half-eaten strawberry from her mouth. A delightful blend of sour and sweet lingered between their lips as Nathael expressionlessly chewed and swallowed. Maggie stared at him in disbelief, flushed.

After a moment, she managed to say, “Nathael, you’re shameless!”

Nathael raised an eyebrow. “I just thought the one in your mouth would taste better.”

Maggie glared at him, handing him the box. “Take them all. I’m done.”

Nathael frowned, thinking for a while. “How about I give them back to you?”

Maggie was too angry to respond. She glared and muttered, “Have some decency!”
