Chapter 46: Thank You Very Much

Sierra seethed with anger, feeling as if her lungs would burst. She never expected Maggie, who had always been kind, to suddenly turn against her.

"You despicable woman! Was all your kindness an act? You're so cunning, Maggie!"

Sierra's eyes were bloodshot, her pupils dilated with rage. She glared fiercely at Maggie, a stark contrast to her usual innocent demeanor.

Maggie chuckled lightly, finding human nature interesting. When she treated Sierra well, Sierra took it for granted and, out of jealousy, readily ruined her. When she treated Sierra poorly, Sierra accused her of ingratitude and scheming. Should Maggie simply accept everything and protect Sierra while being humiliated?

No, she refused.

Joseph approached. Seeing the arguing women, he hid behind a corner and eavesdropped.

Maggie glimpsed his sleeve but ignored it. Turning to Sierra, she said, "Every man for himself. I'm looking out for myself."

"But don't worry, we're sisters. We've grown up together, sharing over a decade of friendship. Even prioritizing myself, I won't make your life difficult."

Maggie's red lips parted slightly. Her beautiful face exuded arrogance and dominance; her cold, firm eyes shone brightly, revealing ambition and calculation without pretense.

Joseph was taken aback. He found Maggie captivating, her demeanor utterly transformed, making it impossible to look away.

"Maggie, you're dreaming! I don't need your charity. Don't think you're amazing just because you can draw a few designs. You're nothing but a dog raised by the Camerons, yet you dare dream of becoming the master! You're delusional!" Sierra trembled with anger. As the pampered pearl of the Camerons, she'd never been so humiliated.

Maggie smiled radiantly. Her beautiful eyes were indifferent, making her seem cruel.

"You're right, sister. I am a dog raised by the Camerons. But don't forget, even a dog can bite."

Maggie's calm, gentle tone made Sierra's heart palpitate. She recalled the terrifying look in Maggie's eyes when Maggie held a dagger to her throat, and felt inexplicable fear. Maggie turned and left, her gaze cold.

Not long after, Joseph caught up with her and grabbed her wrist.

He started to speak, but Maggie laughed. "I thought you were going to keep hiding and watching the show?"

Her casual remark silenced him. She knew he was there. Yet, she threatened Sierra without regard for him. Did she not take him seriously?

"Maggie, what are you trying to do?" Joseph suppressed his anger, scrutinizing her. He felt he'd never truly understood her.

Maggie laughed lightly, finding it amusing. Lately, many people asked her that question. She lacked the patience to deal with Joseph as she did Nathael.

"You're not willing to give me lots of love, so I want lots of money," Maggie said, looking directly at him, her beautiful eyes clear. The words were vulgar and unscrupulous, yet she didn't seem like a vain, opportunistic woman.

Joseph's Adam's apple bobbed. He thought she was throwing a tantrum. "Enough, Maggie. Stop fooling around. You know I love you. I'll give you money if you need it."

Maggie's smile deepened, a dark allure flickering in her eyes. "But I also want more than your love! You used me as a pawn, causing not only my death but also Nathael's loss of an arm. How can you repay me?"

Joseph furrowed his brows, feeling a chill, as if facing a beautiful snake.

"But I don't want your love anymore, Joseph. I just want money," Maggie declared bluntly, feigning betrayal.

Joseph was taken aback by her frankness, feeling defenseless.

"Whatever you want, I'll buy it for you."

Maggie chuckled, looking at him with disappointment. "The one who wants to give doesn't need to be asked, and the one who is asked is always reluctant. Don't bother, Joseph. You might as well give it to Variessa."

Maggie interrupted him, patiently playing along. "So you fell for her seduction. You're the worst kind of person. At least other people are selective. But you accept anyone."

"Maggie!" Joseph's face darkened.

"Fine. Tell me, whose car did you get into last night? Why didn't you open the door? Was there a man hiding in your house?"

Maggie smiled, feigning thought. "Which one are you talking about? The second son of the Baileys? Oh, no. It seems like it was the third young master of the Gregoriesโ€”No, no. You're probably referring to the young master of the Zieglersโ€ฆ"

"Maggie, you're shameless!" Joseph was furious. She used to resist him, but now she seemed to welcome anyone.

Maggie burst into laughter. "It's none of your damn business!"

She felt extremely satisfied. She turned and left, but Joseph stopped her. "I'll give you one more chance. If you come back now, I'll pretend nothing happened!"

Maggie laughed, gazing at him lazily. "Sir, I appreciate your generosity, but you should save this opportunity for yourself."

After venting her frustrations, Maggie left the Camerons in high spirits. Arriving home, about to plan the Herschire Cultural Park design, Nathael called. Maggie was stunned, but then remembered his proactive nature.

Leaning back in her chair, her legs curled up, she picked up the phone, spinning in her chair. "Mr. Harris, calling me like this might give me the wrong impression that you miss me."
