Chapter 58: Becoming a Commoner
"All right, Dad," Maggie said, "I'll ask you to have a lawyer draft a property agreement, or, if you prefer, write a will. I've never asked this family for cars or houses, and I won't ask for a penny in the future." Her expression was stubborn and determined.
Ronald's heart sank. "Maggie, don't listen to your sister's nonsense. The family property will eventually be divided among you and your siblings"
Maggie shook her head. "Dad, if you don't write it, I'll leave the Camerons."
Ronald was caught in a dilemma, his face grim. Sierra, however, was delighted. "Dad, just write it for her; let her give up this idea!"
Ronald hesitated, regretting not stopping Master Cameron from slapping Maggie earlier.
"Dad, call the lawyer," Maggie said coldly and decisively.
"Maggie, this home will definitely be yours in the future," Ronald said firmly, shaking his head. "If Joseph and Sierra have a share, you will too. So I can't write"
Maggie fell silent for a few seconds. "Dad, if you insist on giving me something, it's better to divide it clearly now, in writing. Then Sierra won't worry in the future."
Ronald was speechless. Olivia sensed something was wrong. Ronald and Master Cameron exchanged uneasy glances.
Master Cameron feigned illness, pretending to faint. "Dad!" Ronald exclaimed, rushing to his side.
This was Maggie's trap, and she wouldn't let the opportunity slip away. She wanted to step forward but stopped herself. Then, with tears in her eyes, she looked at Ronald and Madam Cameron. "I'm truly a jinx. If it weren't for me, Grandpa wouldn't have fainted. I should go I'll pray for all of you every day. Let's avoid seeing each other as much as possible." Tears streamed down her face.
Who cares about dignity and pride? she thought. I had too much of that in my previous life, but it only hurt my loved ones and pleased my enemies.

She wanted the Camerons' money, assets—everything she could get! This was the price they would pay for what they'd done to her and the Adams.
With that, Maggie turned and left without looking back, her back resolute and lonely.
Master Cameron could no longer feign illness, and Ronald was anxious. Weighing the pros and cons, he hurriedly said, "Maggie, stop! All right, as you wish. I'll make a simple division of property." Maggie, who had been facing away, slowly stopped, a smile appearing in her eyes.
It seemed this had cost the Camerons dearly.
Half an hour later, after failing to persuade Maggie, the lawyer arrived. Ronald absentmindedly scanned the summary of the Camerons' assets and felt his heart ache at the thought of giving any of it to Maggie. He'd already given her two companies to appease her. He didn't expect to transfer more assets so soon. Both times were related to Sierra, and Ronald was annoyed.
"Maggie, I'll transfer this jewelry company and this restaurant to your name," Ronald said in a deep voice, listing several small, almost unprofitable companies after more profitable ones. The lengthy list made it seem more substantial. Sierra had been sent upstairs to prevent further trouble.
Maggie nodded absentmindedly. "All right, Dad, no need to give me so much."
Ronald lovingly stroked her head. "It's not much. You're my daughter. I'll give you more when you get married."
Maggie snapped back to reality. "Dad, if you're going to give me something, give it all to me now. It will end the conflict between Sierra and me. Otherwise, how many more losses like the Herschire Cultural Park project can our family afford?"
Ronald was speechless, his face contorting. He'd already given Maggie five or six properties, each a painful loss. His attempt to appease her had backfired.

Olivia forced a smile. "I have some, too. I'll bring them over." Neither had planned on giving Maggie jewelry, but compared to companies or hotels, its value was negligible, and they could choose cheaper pieces.
Ronald smiled, remembering something. "Oh, right. You mentioned not having a car. I'll give you two more cars and this racetrack"
Maggie knew the racetrack was bought by Joseph, who liked racing. It was neglected and now cost more to maintain than it earned. Ronald's malicious intent was clear: he was giving her money-losing businesses.
Still, assets were assets. She could still profit from selling them.
Soon, Olivia and Madam Cameron brought jewelry. Maggie smiled at the mound of jewelry boxes.
It seemed being kind, affectionate, and loyal wasn't easy.
After signing the transfer agreements, Maggie felt wealthy. She looked out the window. The sun was setting, casting a warm orange light. Her eyes softened.
Maggie had her servants move her belongings. The Camerons watched her settle in with awkwardness.
Once everything was tidy, Master Cameron said, "Maggie, now that you and Sierra are assured, the most pressing matter is the Herschire Cultural Park project. You have many ideas, so think carefully if there's a way to obtain the blueprints before the deadline."
Maggie's eyes turned cold, but deep down, she felt satisfied. She appreciated their trust.
