Chapter 98: That's Impressive
Maggie was stunned, but she didn't refuse the card. She could distinguish between genuine and feigned kindness. She knew Ericko felt indebted to her and accepted the gift to avoid hurting his feelings. Besides, no one would refuse money.
After accepting the card, Maggie scrutinized it under the street lamp, checking its authenticity. Ericko smiled at her dotingly. She had never seen a black card like this before; the Camerons had never given her one. After losing her sight in her previous life, she'd had no desire for money. Nathael took care of everything, and she'd never had the opportunity to spend it. "Thank you, Ericko!" Maggie exclaimed excitedly, her beautiful eyes gleaming.
Meanwhile, across the street, Emma was furious. She shouted, stomping her feet, "Is Ericko out of his mind giving her a black card?" In every prestigious family, only highly favored individuals possessed a black card—a card with no credit limit. Not everyone in their family owned one.
What did she witness? (This line is repeated and should be removed)
Emma trembled with anger. "Who is Maggie? How dare she seduce Mr. Harris and Ericko, one after another?"
Beth remained silent, watching them with a complex expression. She, too, was curious about Maggie. Many women had seduced Nathael and Ericko, but she wondered what Maggie had done to enchant them so completely. "Look at her," Emma mocked, "She looks like a hooker who's received her reward." Drowned in jealousy, her words were degrading.
Beth put away her phone and said slowly, "A hooker wouldn't have Ericko's black card." Emma was speechless. Even a wealthy heiress wouldn't easily acquire Ericko's black card. He was always polite but distant. While gentle and courteous, he wasn't easily approachable. He respected women but didn't form intimate connections quickly. Emma had faced numerous setbacks in trying to get close to him.

Watching him drape his coat over Maggie, she felt an overwhelming urge to rush over and tear Maggie apart. Ericko, not wanting to drive under the influence, instructed the driver to take Maggie home.
"I need to go to school first. I'll be staying in the dorm tonight." She hadn't expected to be out so late and hadn't brought her laptop or design drafts. She also had a meeting with her lecturer the next day and preferred to stay in the dorm, which had everything she needed and her roommate was there. She would go home tomorrow.
"Alright, let's send you to school," Ericko said. He couldn't shake the thought that their parents would be delighted, but also undoubtedly disapprove of her staying at the Camerons and would want to announce her whereabouts. Thinking of Maggie's determination gave him a headache. He would have to keep their parents in the dark a little longer. He was afraid of their reaction.
He turned to Maggie, who was dozing beside him, and smiled softly. She looked lovely.
Beth and Emma watched them leave. Beth looked at the video on her phone and texted Nathael: 'Nathael, are you free?' As expected, she received no immediate reply. She decided to send the photos and videos she'd taken, sure he would react. Maggie was very flirtatious, she thought, teasing Nathael and having ambiguous relationships with Joseph and Ericko.
Nathael was in a meeting, postponed to the evening because he had to attend Maggie's graduation ceremony in the morning. He opened Beth's message after the meeting. Several photos and videos arrived. He considered blocking her, but his gaze was captivated by the pictures—the woman hugging a man tightly, leaning on his shoulder, smiling.

Under the warm street lamp, she was blushing, indescribable joy in her eyes. Nathael felt a pang in his chest, his throat tightening. He tried to ignore the pain, but couldn't suppress it. The pain morphed into jealousy. He couldn't control his emotions.
His eyes darkened, lips pursed. He knew he shouldn't look further, but he couldn't stop himself from scrolling. Watching them embrace was torture. (The word "Erichop" appears here and seems to be a typo) "She's really good at it," he mocked bitterly. Even if he didn't want to admit it, he couldn't deny that her eyes were bright and her smile genuine and radiant when she was with Mr. Adam.
He lowered his gaze, remembering her smiles when they were together. He chuckled, wondering if she was a good actress, realizing her smile wasn't only for him.
He clicked on the last video—Ericko putting a coat around her, her holding a card, talking happily. He forced himself to watch until the end, then threw his phone on the table and lit a cigarette, standing by the window. His gaze was dark and cold.
What did she want from the Adams? Or did she really like Ericko? Wasn't she supposed to use him? Why hadn't she seen him for so long?
The pale mist lingered, blurring his face. He stared at the city lights, thinking of how she'd hooked her finger with his. After finishing his cigarette, he texted Ericko: 'Let's meet.'
(The final line "11:34 Sat, 18 May M Let's Star All Over Again, Shall We?" seems out of place and possibly from a different section.)
