Chapter 131

"We're not just going out for lunch," I began. "I think we should at least eat at a five-star hotel. That's the only way you can show us you love my sister, right? If you don't treat her family with respect, how will you prove you love her?"

"Besides," Megan said, "for someone who can afford that much dowry, he wouldn't bother paying for lunch at all. She wasn't stupid. If Severin were truly that rich, he would agree to take them out to eat without hesitation. Any hesitation meant he was stalling on the dowry. She glared at Severin, watching his reaction.

Severin unexpectedly agreed without a second thought, replying indifferently, "Diane's parents are my parents. Look how big Selene is now! I haven't treated you all to a meal before. Since this is the first time I'm buying lunch, we have to go somewhere classy!"

"Master," Wendy asked thoughtfully, "should we follow to protect you all?"

Severin considered this before answering, "Not this time. We're just going out for a meal, and I'm here. But you must follow my parents or my wife when they go out in the future if I'm not around."

"Yes, master!" the women responded, nodding.

"We even have bodyguards now," Maurice laughed. "The difference in our lives makes me wonder if I'm dreaming!"

"Master," Lillie asked, "since we have nothing to do today, can the six of us go shopping? We'd like to buy something!"

Severin considered this before replying, "Sure. Go shopping. It's fine to go out when you have nothing to do, but someone must protect my parents' safety when they go out if I'm not around. Otherwise, you're all free to make plans!"

"Thank you, master!" The six women exchanged happy glances.

"Sigh," Megan complained at the door, looking at the Chevrolet parked in the garage. "Ever since Diane stopped being General Manager, we don't even have a car. Do you know how we got here? By taxi! How pathetic! At least Diane has a cheap car. Look at us—we don't even have one…"

She paused, deliberately making things difficult for Severin. "Hey, Severin, if you can afford the dowry, why don't you buy an Audi or BMW? Isn't a Chevrolet too low-class for people who live here?"

Felicia's heart sank. She'd been looking forward to the dowry. Megan's words made her wonder if Severin could actually afford it. If he were truly wealthy, he would have a better car.

'Don't tell me this little brat is really fooling me!' she thought. The more she considered it, the angrier she became. What if Severin was just trying to win them over? Once they were friendly, Diane might have stronger feelings for him. Then he could ask Diane to pressure us into accepting them. It was hard to say, but it was definitely a possibility.
