Chapter 22

Little did anyone expect the hotel owner to arrive with security guards.

Everyone moved aside to let him pass.

Severin saw the middle-aged man who had played chess with Henry that morning. He wondered what the man was doing there.

"Oh, hello, Mr. Monroe. What brings you here?" Trevor said with a smile.

Denzel Monroe, owner of the Richemont Hotel, glanced at Severin and said, "I was told someone was causing trouble. I brought security to assess the situation. Could you explain what's going on, Mr. Trevor?"

"This kid is stirring trouble! He even hurt my son!" Trevor pointed angrily at Severin. "I don't need your security. Our bodyguards have arrived; we'll handle him!"

He paused. "Of course, I don't blame you for him being here. It's a large hotel; people slip in." However, Denzel surprised him by smiling. "Excuse me, but this man is a friend. Please show me some courtesy and forget this."

"Are you siding with him?" Trevor's smile vanished, replaced by confusion.

The Monroes were far more influential than the Loughs. While not comparable to the Shanahans, they were only slightly below them, currently the family most likely to rise to third-tier upper-class status.

Severin, ready to act, frowned. It was odd that a man he'd met only once was siding with him. He quickly realized the man likely wanted to impress Henry. The Longhorns were one of Brookbourn's three first-tier upper-class families.

Severin and Henry had recently become friends after Severin saved Henry's life. Henry's imminent arrival, and his knowledge of Denzel's intervention, would significantly improve Denzel's standing with Henry.

Denzel smiled faintly. "He's my friend. I can't hand him over. How about I give you half off your hotel expenses today in exchange for dropping this?" S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FɪndNøvel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Trevor's lips twitched. He glared at Denzel. "I held my wedding banquet here out of respect. Your staff can't maintain order, and now you're defending this kid? Are you sure you want to make an enemy of me?"

Denzel smiled wryly. "I've made myself clear. I'll ensure his safety. He leaves this hotel unharmed. My security guards aren't pushovers; if necessary, I'll call my bodyguards."

"Don't push your luck, Denzel. We'll see if you can protect him!" Trevor was furious. As a regular patron, he was appalled Denzel favored Severin over a valued customer.

Trevor called someone on his phone. Returning with a smile, he said, "I wonder if you'll still protect him once Blade arrives, Denzel."
