Chapter 82

"But, you" Lucy was unhappy. It was their wedding day. After the morning's marriage registration, they'd had an afternoon reception. Despite its being ruined, tonight was still their wedding night, and she'd been looking forward to it. She never imagined it would end like this.

The sad look on Lucy's face softened Easton's heart. "Maybe too much has happened today," he said. "Besides, I'm not really in the mood after losing my finger. Let's take a rain check."

He paused. "Don't worry. Even though Severin, that jerk, ruined our wedding, I'll make it up to you. Let's choose another day!"

"Okay!" Lucy bit her lip and nodded. Deep down, she hated Severin even more. If he hadn't shown up, she would have been the happiest woman in the world. Severin had ruined the wedding she'd planned and anticipated.

The next day, Severin left home early. Using the address Blade had given him the previous night, he quickly found Draco Hall. To his surprise, he was stopped at the door by a guard named Harvey.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" Harvey asked. "This is the Draco Hall headquarters. Only authorized personnel are allowed entry!"

Severin smiled faintly. "I'm here to see the Supreme Commander and Second-in-Command. Draco asked me to come. He said the Hall Master is expecting me."

Harvey frowned, rubbing his fingers together. "Oh really? I'm afraid they're quite busy." (The blatant bribe request is clear without further description.)

Severin frowned. "Your boss wants to see me, not the other way around. Do you understand?"

Harvey's face fell. "Don't you know money solves all problems? That's the unspoken rule of society. Are you sure your boss wants to see you? Who do you think you are? I know all the wealthy and powerful men in this city, and I don't recognize you. Even the young master of a third-tier upper-class family is polite when visiting my boss. Your attitude is unacceptable. Take your attitude and come back another day. I might let you in if I'm in a better mood."

"Oh really? I hope you don't regret this," Severin chuckled, turning to leave.

Another guard spoke up. "Harvey, I don't think that's a good idea."

Harvey scoffed. "I've never seen him before. I bet he's in trouble and wants our boss's help. Is that the attitude to take when asking for help? Who does he think he is? F*ck you! Are you tired of living?"

Blade, who'd been on his way to greet Severin (fearing he'd be unsatisfied with their welcome), overheard this and saw Severin turning away. Rage surged through him. He slapped Harvey several times and chased after Severin. "Mister Severin! Please don't go! I apologize for our subordinates' incompetence. Please don't go!"

Severin stopped and turned. "That guy told me to come back another day. I think he's right. You're not very welcoming!"

"What are you waiting for? Apologize to Mister Severin!" Blade roared.
