Chapter 751

“No, Rhea. You’re the beautiful one!” Tia blushed and replied. She genuinely believed Rhea was Emmanuel’s girlfriend and that he preferred this style of dress. Little did she know Rhea actually favored dresses as more feminine. Perhaps Emmanuel had simply preferred Tia's attire that day; it was more aligned with a man's aesthetic.

Emmanuel, however, remained oblivious to the women's thoughts. He watched them chat, accompanying them while subtly signaling Ryder with his eyes. Unfortunately, Ryder, still insecure, didn't dare initiate a conversation.

Just as the four were about to enter, a familiar voice called from the side.

“Manny, Ryder, you’re here too?”

Following the voice, they saw Roselynn and Jaxton.

“Roselynn, why are you here too?”

Emmanuel, noticing Jaxton was still parking his car and shorter than Roselynn, leaned close and whispered, “Have you made up with him?”

Roselynn sighed and whispered back, “Just pretend for now. After all, I’m not going home to sleep with him!”

Emmanuel sympathized; her situation was even worse than his own had been. Her mother forbade a divorce, yet remaining together without love was untenable. They agreed that marriage was a risky proposition; it was better to be single than to settle. Otherwise, ending the relationship would be incredibly difficult.

“Hello, everyone!” Jaxton finally approached, greeting only Rhea and Tia with a smile. He pointedly ignored Roselynn's relatives.

Roselynn noticed this. She had hoped to give Jaxton a chance to impress her, but that now seemed unlikely.

“Hello. Who is this?” Rhea asked, looking at Roselynn. Both she and Tia suspected this was Roselynn's partner, but they didn't appear compatible; their heights were mismatched.

Roselynn didn't introduce him, unwilling to admit he was her husband. Jaxton, however, smiled and said, “I’m Jaxton Oatley. Roselynn’s… partner.” He avoided mentioning "husband," as many men hesitate to admit marriage in front of attractive women, fearing it would diminish their chances with others.

Roselynn sighed again. Reconciliation was impossible.

“Oh. Hello!” Rhea perceived the need for a better relationship between Emmanuel's family and Jaxton. After a brief greeting, she lost interest in further politeness. Tia, similarly unimpressed, declared, “Let’s go inside!”

“Let’s go!” Emmanuel led the way, Rhea walking beside him. Jaxton attempted to take Roselynn’s hand, but she calmly withdrew it. Instead, she joined Emmanuel's other side, chatting with Rhea, curious why Emmanuel was out with this woman and if he feared Mackenzie's reaction.

Jaxton felt awkward and didn't dare approach Tia, reluctantly following. Ryder, despite the opportunity, was too nervous to speak to Tia.

“Ms. Franks, let’s go together!” Tommy intervened on his father’s behalf.

“Sure, Tommy!” Tia, treating him like a student, took his hand and entered. Ryder followed like a shadow.

Ryder sighed inwardly. If not for his drunken indiscretion with Abellyn, he might still be unmarried.

Once inside, the atmosphere was subdued.

Chapter 752

Most of the amusement park's games—Ferris wheel, roller coasters—suited adventurous young people. Rhea, at 23, enjoyed them, but the others, in their thirties, lacked enthusiasm. Their presence served a purpose beyond mere amusement; each harbored their own thoughts.

“How about we grab some snacks first?” Rhea, as the organizer, suggested.

“Sure. I’ll go buy them,” Ryder volunteered, surprisingly proactive. “What snacks do you all like?” It wasn’t a deliberate attempt to impress Tia. Emmanuel and Roselynn knew Ryder was always efficient and generous. Jaxton, however, was oblivious.

Only after Ryder solicited preferences did Jaxton offer to buy hot dogs and milk tea for Roselynn. Roselynn declined, preferring Ryder's assistance. Jaxton felt embarrassed and resentful. He hadn't been so humble when courting her. The prospect of future subservience made him question the marriage, yet his desire for Roselynn and social advancement compelled him to persevere.

While Jaxton pondered, Ryder returned with snacks for everyone except himself, hesitant to buy for himself. Seeing Ryder's hesitation, Jaxton smirked. Roselynn, noticing Jaxton’s expression, deemed him unpleasant.

“Ryder, take mine! I’m on a diet!” Roselynn offered her food and drink. Jaxton, surprised, offered his to Roselynn, but she refused, instructing him to give it to Ryder. Jaxton reluctantly complied.

“Ah… It’s okay! You guys can eat!” Ryder insisted. Jaxton, disdainful, left him to it. Tia, unable to bear the situation, offered to share her snack with Ryder.

“Ah! This-” Ryder, overwhelmed, smiled.

Chapter 753

“Ryder, what are you still standing there for?” Roselynn couldn't watch Ryder, a man in his thirties acting like a lovestruck teenager. She nudged him toward Tia.

Tia blushed, aware of Emmanuel’s family’s desire for her to marry Ryder. She found the prospect appealing; at least, Emmanuel wanted her in his family.

Ryder, even shyer than Tia, was experiencing a novel situation; sharing snacks with a woman for the first time in decades, never even having done so with Abellyn. He skillfully shared the hot dog and ate with his hands. Tia offered him milk tea.

His face flushed crimson. Was this an indirect kiss?

“Everyone, I heard that the most famous attraction is the ‘Happiness’ Ferris wheel. Couples who ride it are blessed!” Emmanuel suggested; only he could make Tia believe this.

Jaxton agreed, hoping to exploit a scared Roselynn's vulnerability. Roselynn ignored him; she wanted to maintain group harmony and ensure Tia’s participation.

“Tia, let’s play together!” Rhea joined them, their personalities meshing.

“Well, okay!” Tia agreed, enjoying the group’s warmth, especially her prince charming’s presence.

“Well… Then, I’ll go buy the tickets!” Ryder volunteered again, motivated by his inherent honesty and proactiveness. Jaxton followed, claiming the tickets weren't cheap.

Chapter 754

Ryder felt guilty about the cost. Tia intervened, knowing he wasn't wealthy. Rhea and Roselynn chuckled inwardly. Ryder decided against buying the tickets. Jaxton returned with them; only Rhea and Tia thanked him.

Ten minutes earlier, in the amusement park's control room, Hubert (Mr. Verkade), with two accomplices, instructed the manager to halt Ferris wheel ticket sales and sabotage the ride. He planned to kill Emmanuel. Hubert received a call from Gautier, advising him to leave the scene afterwards, but Hubert was consumed by rage and ignored him.

Emmanuel and the others noticed the unusually low number of people at the Ferris wheel.

Emmanuel questioned the staff about the low number of visitors. The staff explained they operated regardless of visitor numbers. Jaxton boasted about their exclusive access to the Ferris wheel. Rhea asked Tia if she wanted to ride. Tia agreed. Rhea helped fasten Ryder and Tia's seatbelts; Roselynn took her seat. Emmanuel, Rhea, and Tommy shared a seat. Tommy was excited; Roselynn was proud of Ryder. Jaxton trembled in fear. The Ferris wheel’s noises intensified; sparks flew from the axle. Tourists noticed and fled. The Ferris wheel operator ran away, unable to stop the ride.

Emmanuel urged everyone to jump when the Ferris wheel reached its highest point. Rhea and Tommy, followed by Roselynn, jumped into the water, guided by Emmanuel. Hubert cursed from below.

Rhea and Tommy landed safely. Roselynn followed suit. Hubert, enraged, retrieved an air gun to shoot Emmanuel. His subordinates warned him against it. The Ferris wheel began to tilt. Roselynn and the others shouted in fear. Emmanuel, sensing danger, dodged a bullet fired by Hubert, who was attempting to kill him. Hubert screamed as the Ferris wheel crushed him. The amusement park shook. Roselynn and Tia rushed to Emmanuel. Jaxton called for help from the water. Roselynn reached Emmanuel first. Tia witnessed Hubert's horrific fate. Rhea, assessing the situation, asked Emmanuel to help Hubert. Hubert, regaining some consciousness, protested being saved by Emmanuel.

Chapter 759

Amusement park staff struggled to lift the Ferris wheel to free Hubert. Emmanuel joined them; together they moved the Ferris wheel enough to pull out Hubert, who fainted. Sirens blared as Ashton and her team arrived, accusing Emmanuel of causing trouble. Roselynn defended Emmanuel, noting Ashton's previous hostility. Ashton, glared at Emmanuel before leaving. Emmanuel complained to Sage about Ashton. Sage asked Emmanuel to be frank about who was targeting him. Emmanuel revealed he was still connected to the Northern Region. Sage, excited, hugged Emmanuel and asked if he would reform the Wolf Warrior Unit. Emmanuel asked Roselynn, Rhea, and Ryder to leave, wanting to speak privately with Sage. Ryder was left to drive Roselynn, Rhea and Tia home. Tia got a cold and Ryder gave her and Tommy a ride home. Emmanuel and Sage met at a storage room. Emmanuel provided Sage with medicine and then discussed the plot against his life.
