Chapter 110
Stacey returned home. Lillian and Kevin toddled toward her. Lillian could walk a long distance without support. She was growing up.
Stacey squatted down, opened her arms, and hugged Lillian, who threw herself into her embrace. "Mama, Mama..." Kevin couldn't walk very well and fell after toddling a few steps. The nanny hurriedly supported him, took his hand, and helped him walk toward Stacey. Seeing Lillian in her arms, Kevin babbled anxiously.
Debra entered. Looking at Kevin, she smiled, bent down, and hugged him, kissing his cheek. He was so cute.
Stacey kissed Lillian, then picked her up and walked inside, followed by Debra with Kevin in her arms.
The home felt different to Stacey. She looked up at Debra and smiled.
Debra returned a sincere smile. "It's great that Stacey finally got rid of that scumbag," she said.
"Becky, how about we buy another house? Let's live somewhere farther away from Theodore," Debra suggested.
Stacey was surprised. "Mom, have you decided where to buy a house?" she asked.
Debra nodded. "I have a few places in mind. If you're willing to move, we can choose a place we both like and move there together."
"Okay," Stacey agreed.
Debra was delighted. She immediately took out her mobile phone and began searching for property information in Macloria.
In fact, Debra had planned to take Stacey back to Hivalis after she received the divorce papers. Then, Stacey could stay away from the Edwards family. Unexpectedly, just as Stacey's troubles were resolved, Bryce seemed to have met someone. Debra thought Bryce and the female officer might be a couple, so she wanted to stay and try to bring them together. What if it worked out? If Bryce were unavailable, Debra would be happier.
Stacey's mobile phone rang while she was choosing a house with Debra.
Stacey was stunned. She answered the video call from Charlie. "Congratulations! You finally got rid of that scumbag!" Charlie exclaimed happily.
Debra heard Charlie's voice, craned her neck to look at Stacey's phone, and saw him.
Thinking about Stacey's divorce, Debra felt happy and relieved.
"Chuck, Becky got the divorce papers, so we need to address those online comments as soon as possible. I can't bear those people insulting Becky anymore," Debra reminded Charlie seriously.
Charlie was happy to hear this. "Yeah, I called Becky to talk about this," he said, then looked at Stacey and said excitedly, "Becky, I prepared the paternity test. At nine o'clock tonight, my studio will issue an announcement that we are biological siblings. Call Lynn to forward the tweet."
"Okay," Stacey agreed with a smile.
"By the way, have you changed your name?" Charlie asked eagerly.
Stacey smiled and nodded. "Yes, I'm Stacey Carter."
Charlie paused, looking confused. He looked at Stacey, then at Debra. "What? Didn't you change your name to Rebecca Carter?"
Debra's mouth twitched, and she scolded, "Rebecca Carter? Shut up! I don't like it!"
Charlie was speechless. It seemed his parents had been rather casual with names, not only Rebecca's but also his three brothers'.
He thought, Forget it. There's nothing I can do.
"What's the meaning of Becky's new name?" Charlie asked, no longer trusting his parents' naming skills. He really wanted to know the meaning of the second name they gave Rebecca. Debra saw Charlie's doubtful look.
"Stacey means stable, and she will bounce back. Listen, if you keep doubting me, I'll beat you up!" Debra warned.
Stacey realized belatedly that her name had this meaning.
Hearing Debra's warning, Charlie was afraid. He dared not let his mind wander and quickly remembered his sister's name.
"Yeah, yeah, it's a good name. Stacey Carter," Charlie said happily.
Debra laughed.
The video call lasted a long time. After talking about everything, Charlie hung up.
Thinking about Charlie's words, Stacey texted Lynn.
Lynn replied quickly, telling Stacey not to worry, that she would handle everything.
Stacey felt relieved and happy. She couldn't help but look forward to nine o'clock.
Stacey went back to her room, took out her tablet, and started watching a TV series. Lovey Princess aired on TV and online, though the online streaming lagged behind. The drama was very popular, second only to Reverse Days, starring Charlie.
Seeing the rankings, Stacey felt happy and started watching. As soon as the drama began, the screen was filled with comments, mostly cursing Stacey. Many netizens criticized her, using various insults and abbreviated dirty words.
Stacey watched these comments for a while, then closed them and continued watching.
Janet had been attending events in Amando for the past few days. After a tiring day, she returned to her hotel, showered, and lay in bed in her pajamas. She took out her phone and started reading online news.
For the past few days, the internet was flooded with insults directed at Rebecca. Janet became happier and happier as she read them. Rebecca would never be a match for her. Janet had said long ago that Rebecca wasn't cut out for showbiz. Rebecca didn't believe it, and now she was suffering the consequences.
Janet switched to a burner account and contacted the internet trolls she'd hired. She added a large sum of money and ordered them to continue cursing Rebecca online and manipulating public opinion, maintaining Rebecca's negative popularity. Janet thought, This time, I'll definitely drive Rebecca out of showbiz. She will never enter it again!
