Chapter 191
Queenie waited outside Hayden’s hotel room until 8:30. Starving and anxious, she wondered if he’d already left. Besides seeing Hayden, she had to attend Eklonna’s product launch with him—a crucial step in regaining her place in the Leavey family.
Years ago, her family’s stubbornness had alienated her parents. Her uncle exploited the rift, whispering doubts about her suitability to her grandfather, a man who valued family legacy above all else. He’d slowly transferred company control to her uncle, grooming her cousin Edith as the heir. Now, Queenie needed to prove herself, but her grandfather’s trust was shattered, and her uncle’s influence loomed large.
Remarrying Hayden, securing the Hoggard family’s support, was her best chance. It wouldn't be easy; winning him back required patience. The Eklonna event was key— appearing together would signal reconciliation, softening her grandfather’s stance.
She’d assumed she could simply follow Hayden, but now… had he left? Panic surged. Gritting her teeth, she raced out.
Even without an invitation, finding the Eklonna venue wouldn’t be hard. It was still early; Hayden likely wasn’t there yet. She'd wait for him at the entrance. Their past relationship was public knowledge; Hayden wouldn't publicly humiliate her.
The priority was her appearance. She needed to look impeccable for Eklonna. Bursting into a salon, she demanded, "Miss, I need the best makeup—for Eklonna’s launch!"
Anna, the owner of Anna Style, was stunned. Eklonna was Daprein's most influential accessory brand—unattainable for most.
"Hello?" Queenie frowned at Anna’s stunned silence.
"Yes! Of course!" Anna exclaimed, regaining her composure. "Miss, you… are you attending Eklonna's launch?"
Queenie nodded. Anna, ecstatic, offered her finest products. "Ms. Leavey, these are the best. But, a small request—would you mind…"
Queenie, glancing at the time, urged, "Hurry! I'll pay for everything!"
While applying the makeup, Anna explained, "Miss, today's makeup is on the house, but I hope you’ll wear it at Eklonna's and send me pictures."
Queenie, annoyed but pressed for time, reluctantly agreed. She had to get to the event—and to Hayden.
