The Edwards Group's bankruptcy hit the headlines, surprising Stacey at first. But learning it involved Jenny softened the blow, leaving her with a quiet melancholy. The Edwards Group had been such a powerhouse, and its collapse under Theodore's leadership in less than two years was almost unbelievable. She sighed. Everyone's life, hers and Theodore's included, was a consequence of their choices. No judgment.

Stacey switched off the news, turning her attention to Carter's Jewel's holiday planning. Christmas loomed, and the whole country was buzzing with festive energy. Except for frontline sales, everyone at Carter's Jewel was getting their usual holiday break. But before the shutdown, Stacey had mountains of work to do. Her days were packed, leaving little time for Hayden and Jeremy. Thankfully, they were incredibly understanding.

Hayden became the family's grocery shopper, and each evening, Stacey came home to a lovingly prepared meal. Lillian and Kevinโ€™s expectations soared with each passing day, demanding exquisitely plated dinners. Even the housekeeper at Carter Villa, though not responsible for cooking, felt the pressure. After asking Hayden for permission, she began to learn his techniques.

Debbie and Patrick reassured the housekeeper, their amusement evident, but she was inspired. Hayden, ever patient, readily shared his knowledge, and her skills improved rapidly. Soon, her dishes were beautifully presented and delicious. Debbie and Patrick joked about Hayden "upgrading" the housekeeper's abilities, much to everyone's amusement.

Isabella and Damian arrived. The housekeeper, aware of Damianโ€™s status, prepared particularly attractive dishes. Damian, usually clinging to Isabella, was so captivated by the food that he forgot his mother entirely, his eyes wide with wonder. Isabella was equally stunned. She knew the Carters were wealthy, but this was gourmet restaurant quality! Even Adrian was astonished. They soon discovered the secret: Hayden's influence. Isabella laughed. The lives of the rich, she realized, were far more interesting than she'd imagined.

Theodore and Wyatt drove to Hivalis, a journey of several days. They stopped at the entrance to Carter Villa, but didn't go in. Permission was needed, but more importantly, Theodore lacked the courage to face Rebecca. He just wanted a glimpse of her and the children. The thought of Lillian and Kevin brought a fresh wave of pain. The security guard recognized him and, instead of inviting him in, ordered him to leave. Theodore, usually furious at such treatment, simply smiled bitterly.

Wyatt, sensing Theodore's despair, discreetly offered the guard sixty dollars. The guard initially refused, but Wyatt insisted, promising they wouldn't enter, just watch from the gate. Reluctantly, the guard accepted the money and left them be.

They stood at the gate until evening, catching only a glimpse of the Carter family's car returning. Their stomachs rumbling, Wyatt finally said, "Let's go." To Wyatt's surprise, Theodore readily agreed. Over dinner, Theodore broke down, sobbing uncontrollably. Wyatt, feeling helpless, ordered several bottles of alcohol. He stayed with Theodore, drinking late into the night, before quietly returning the remaining bottles and taking him to a hotel.

For days, Theodore repeated his vigil at the gate. Wyatt watched, worried and unable to offer comfort. Then, one evening, while shopping near Carter Villa, they saw Rebecca with another man and three childrenโ€”Lillian and Kevin calling the man "Daddy."
