Chapter 38

The three women on-site, and the hundreds of thousands watching the livestream, were stunned. Everyone wondered, "What does Becky mean by this?"

Phoebe quickly understood. She exclaimed, "Becky, are you trying to protect Lesley's chickens? If her chickens aren't stolen, your team wins, right?"

The realization dawned on everyone. Lesley was shocked, completely taken aback by Becky's strategy. The livestream audience was equally astonished; they'd never seen such a tactic.

[I did the math, and it seems right. Chickens in the mountains are hard to catch. Right now, Lesley's and Charlie's teams have the most chickens. No matter how hard the other teams try, they can't catch up. So, the key is protecting each other's chickens. As long as Lesley's chickens aren't stolen, Becky and Chuck's team will have the most.]

[Wow, Becky is so smart! Now I get why Chuck spoils her so much. If I had such an amazing partner, I'd spoil her too.]

[OMG, I think I'm falling more and more for Becky.]

[Does Becky have a Twitter account? I really want to follow her.]

Many viewers became Becky fans. Becky couldn't see the comments, but the other guests could, and their envy was palpable.

Meanwhile, sporadic comments about Livestream Room Four appeared. Janet initially ignored them, but keywords like "Lesley" and "Becky" caught her attention. After reading several comments, she understood the situation and her face soured.

Rebecca was targeting Lesley? If so, Lesley couldn't help Janet.

"Janie, are you tired? Let's take a break," Karen pleaded. Exhausted from chasing chickens all day, she regretted participating in the show.

It was just a silly entertainment show. Why was it so exhausting? Karen was furious but held back, thinking of her daughter's reputation. She gently suggested a rest.

Janet looked at her mother. Her makeup was faded, her face pale and weary. Normally, she would rest; she needed to maintain her image. But now, she was anxious. With Rebecca targeting Lesley, winning was impossible without a new plan. Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the FɪndNøvel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Stealing from others… Janet thought of Groups One and Two. Group One had Jayden and his three-year-old; they likely weren't guarding their chickens well. Group Two had Phoebe and her grandfather. How many chickens did they have?

Janet told her mother, "Mom, guard our chickens. Don't let them out of your sight. I need to take care of something."

Without waiting for a reply, Janet left. "Janie?" Karen called anxiously. Janet ignored her, hurrying away.

The livestream camera followed her. She turned and asked the cameraman, "Could you follow my mom?" She clearly didn't want to be filmed.

This wasn't unusual. Earlier, the camera couldn't follow both Rebecca and Charlie, so it followed the more popular Charlie. Now, Janet was the more popular one, but she asked the camera to follow her mother instead.

The cameraman hesitated, then received a message from Ben to return to Karen. The livestream focused on Karen.

Janet's fans grew anxious, wondering what she was doing. Many left Livestream Room Four to find her.

Was she plotting something? Would she appear in another livestream? Becky's earlier appearance in another stream had created a stir. Janet's fans were eager to see her make a dramatic move.

Other guests quickly learned of Janet's departure and became alert.

Phoebe, sitting with Rebecca and Lesley, felt uneasy. She stood abruptly, saying, "Lesley, Becky, I have to go." She bolted to find her grandfather and protect their chickens from Janet.

Viewers in Livestream Rooms Two and Three found this hilarious, wondering if Tamron could protect their chickens. Many switched to Livestream Room Two to follow Phoebe.

Lesley noticed her dwindling viewership. She wanted to retain her audience but was stuck, watching Becky intently.

"Um… Are you really a fan of Charlie?" Lesley asked Rebecca, hoping to spark interest.

Rebecca's heart skipped a beat, but she nodded, "Yes."

"What do you like about him?" Lesley asked.

"Charlie… well, he used to berate girls. Many people thought he was rude," Lesley said, looking at Rebecca. "I thought his fans were mostly guys. I'm curious why you like him."

Lesley remembered her company's task: create trouble for Charlie and make Janet look better. She deliberately brought up Charlie's negative traits, hoping Rebecca would criticize him, making Janet look superior.
