Chapter 69

Rebecca told her mother about Cynthia's situation. Debra felt a deep sense of gratitude toward Cynthia.

"We should pick a nice gift to wish her a happy birthday," Debra said.

Rebecca nodded. "Yeah."

"How old is she turning this year?" Debra asked.

"Fifty-five," Rebecca replied, pulling out her phone and showing her mother a saved photo of Cynthia.

After looking at the photo, Debra smiled. "No worries. I know just what to get her."

"What?" Rebecca asked, puzzled.

Debra smiled. "The timing is perfect. I haven't had a chance to get you anything lately, either. Let's go out together tomorrow and pick something nice for you and your two kids."

"For me, too?" Rebecca was surprised.

Debra nodded happily. "Becky, you haven't been to our hometown in Alagua City, have you?"

Rebecca remained silent.

Debra straightened her daughter's clothes and smiled. "We still have several mines in our hometown, rich with emeralds and minerals. Tomorrow, let's take your father and go back home to have a look."

Rebecca's mind raced. Mines, several of them, in their hometown? Was this real? Was she dreaming?

Debra noticed her daughter's dazed expression. She paused, then laughed. "What? You don't believe me?"

Rebecca shook her head. "No. I'm just really shocked."

She had accepted her biological parents' wealth, but several mines? That was a new level entirely. She needed time to process this.

Chapter 69

As the mother and daughter chatted, Patrick came home from work, weary from a long day. Seeing his wife and daughter, his tired expression softened.

Rebecca and Debra looked up.

"Dad," Rebecca greeted him, standing.

Debra also stood, smiling. "Patrick, are you free tomorrow? I was just talking to Becky about taking her back to our hometown to pick out a birthday gift for her aunt. It's also a good opportunity to choose some gifts for her and her two kids. We haven't had a proper chance since the reunion."

Patrick chuckled. "Why bother with gifts? What's ours is Becky's. Whatever she wants, she can take directly from home."

Debra smiled wider. "You are right. What am I saying about giving gifts? It's all hers, to begin with."

Patrick smiled. "Alright then, tomorrow it is. I'll have someone arrange for a helicopter tonight so we can fly back in the morning."

Rebecca was stunned. "Helicopter?"

Debra and Patrick exchanged glances and laughed.

Patrick smiled. "Becky, have you ever ridden in a helicopter before?"

Rebecca shook her head.

Debra smiled. "That helicopter belongs to us, Becky. Let me or your dad know whenever you want to use it, and we can arrange it anytime."

Rebecca and the two nannies caring for Lily and Kev were stunned. A family that owned a helicopter…

"Um… Will we be going with you tomorrow?" one nanny asked excitedly.

Chapter 69

Just one ride would give them a lifetime of stories.

"Of course, the kids still need your care," Debra said, smiling at the nannies. Over the past few months, she had grown to appreciate Marie and Gwen, Rebecca's nannies. They were reliable, hardworking, and sincere.

Marie and Gwen, holding the children, looked at each other with excitement.

While Rebecca planned Cynthia's gift, Janet was also preparing one. She hadn't paid much attention to Cynthia in previous years, but this year was different. A few days ago, she learned that Cynthia had become a top designer at Vimy, with many celebrities vying for her services. Even with appointments, the wait was months, sometimes half a year.

As a seasoned actress, Janet never lacked outfits. Brands clamored to dress her, but those were market designs, not custom-made. What she needed was a high-end designer exclusively for herself. She wanted to elevate her status, to stand out in elite social circles.

With this goal, Janet put much thought into her aunt's birthday gift. She decided on emeralds. An emerald bracelet would please Cynthia. She booked a ticket to Alagua City, the emerald capital of Zentiscape. The only difficulty was the distance from Maeloria, and the several train transfers required. However, Janet considered the journey worthwhile if her aunt became her exclusive designer.
