Scarlett was upset that someone so young criticized her marriage.
Noticing Scarlett’s agitation, Zoe smiled without explanation and left.
Scarlett slammed her fist on the bed in frustration, gritting her teeth.
Meanwhile, Leroy was meeting someone.
“Leroy, you’re quite the busy bee! Weren’t you supposed to be off yesterday? I heard you went to the hospital,” Yvonne said, her eyes curious. Leroy, surprised, realized Olivia had told her.
He sighed. “It was just a patient. I was only taking care of them.” He paused. “So, where would you like to go today? I’ll keep you company.”
Yvonne was surprised, but quickly recovered. “Leroy, you’ve changed. Did something good happen at the hospital?”
Leroy glanced at himself, puzzled. “What’s different? I don’t see anything.”
Yvonne smiled knowingly. “Maybe you just don’t realize it. The first time I met you, you seemed so gloomy. But now, you’re much more cheerful.”
Leroy returned her warm smile faintly. “Why wouldn’t I smile? Things were bothering me before, but everything’s fine now.” A bitter taste lingered. He’d poured his heart and soul into those three years, but some people didn’t care.
“Leroy, what are you thinking about?” she asked.
He snapped back to reality. “Nothing much. I was just thinking about something.”
Yvonne sighed. “Leroy, if you’re worried about the hospital, why don’t we just head back now? It will affect me if you’re distracted. I don’t want you thinking about someone else while we’re here.” Her words hinted at playful flirtation, but Leroy only felt she was complaining.
“I’m really sorry, Yvonne. Maybe we should meet another time,” he apologized.
Yvonne shook her head. “Leroy, you don’t need to apologize. You’re a responsible doctor; honestly, I’m quite happy about that. I wonder who’s lucky enough to have a doctor like you.”
Leroy felt guilty. Did Scarlett feel lucky?
“Well, at least buy me a cup of coffee. We’re already out, and if I return this early, my dad will definitely ask questions.”
Leroy agreed.
At the coffee shop, they saw Cedric and Valda. Leroy’s brow furrowed; he wanted to leave. But Valda saw him.
“Isn’t that Leroy? Why aren’t you at the hospital?”
