Chapter 118

Gina started cleaning the dishes after Gilmore finished eating. Lilian offered to help.

Gina quickly stopped her. “You shouldn’t be doing this, Miss Morales. I can do it. Go take a rest.”

“Gina, why can’t I do it?” Lilian asked.

“Miss Morales, you’re a celebrity. You can’t do chores. Filming is very tiring for you. You should rest!”

Gina refused to let Lilian help. However, Lilian persisted, taking the dishes into the kitchen. Gina had no choice but to accept her help.

“Lilian, I’m going for a walk,” Gilmore said to Lilian, who was entering the kitchen.

“How about we go for a walk together after I finish cleaning up?” she suggested.

“No, that’s okay. I can go by myself. I’ll be back soon,” Gilmore said.

“All right, be careful.” Lilian smiled at Gilmore as she left the kitchen. Gilmore nodded.

After walking a few hundred feet from the villa, he found himself alone. He channeled his mana and soared into the sky, like an eagle. Under the night sky, he moved like a spirit leaping through the mountain trees. Since consuming the elixir, he could fly effortlessly, thanks to its potent mana. He soon landed on a mountaintop.

The moon illuminated the lush trees surrounding the peak. Several boulders, approximately 120 inches tall, stood at the edge, one-third buried in mud. Despite their precarious position, they were firmly anchored. A slope descended to a winding mountain road about 1,000 inches below.

Gilmore stood atop the mountain, overlooking the road. Earlier, during dinner, his eyelid had twitched, and his God’s Eye revealed that Clinton had ordered Clive to bring martial artists to attack him. Therefore, he’d used the walk as a pretext to ambush Clive and his men.

The night wind softly blew under the moonlight. Gilmore stood calmly, awaiting his enemies.

Thirty minutes later, he saw cars approaching the foot of the mountain and ascending the winding road. Although distant, his God’s Eye clearly identified them as Clive’s.

“They’re finally here!” Gilmore’s eyes gleamed.

The sound of the cars grew louder, their headlights illuminating the winding road. As they neared the slope, Gilmore acted. With lightning speed, he struck several boulders at the mountain's edge. His mana sent the massive, immobile boulders, weighing tens of thousands of kilograms, tumbling down. Three boulders rolled down, sounding like a mountain collapsing.

Clive and the martial artists sensed danger.

“What’s that noise?” Clive, who had been closing his eyes in the car, abruptly opened them. His gaze was sharp. As an elite martial artist, he felt a sudden sense of peril.

“Sir, I don’t know what happened,” the others responded, confused. “It sounds like a landslide.”

“Stop the car! We’re in danger!” Clive ordered.

The mountains were pitch black except for the streetlights. Unable to see the danger, Clive instructed the driver to park, intending to assess the situation. All five cars stopped.

This was precisely what Gilmore wanted. If they stopped instead of fleeing, the boulders would crush them.

With a rumbling noise, several boulders tumbled down the slope. Loud bangs followed, accompanied by screams and sparks as the boulders smashed into the parked cars. Cars and boulders careened down the dark hill.

Seeing this, Gilmore knew Clive and his men were severely incapacitated and posed no further threat to him and Lilian. He used his mana to fly from the mountaintop, landing near Lilian’s villa ten seconds later.

He heard hurried footsteps approaching.

“I thought I heard something!”

“Hurry, let’s check it out!”

Gilmore recognized the voices of the villa's security guards. They encountered him. “Mr. Reed! It’s you!” they exclaimed.

Gilmore nodded. “I’m just back from a walk.”

The guards looked down the road, seeing nothing. “Mr. Reed, did you hear that noise?”

Gilmore nodded. “I did. It sounded like a landslide.”

The guards agreed. “Yes, a landslide in the mountains.”

Lilian and Gina emerged from the villa, rushing to Gilmore. “Gilmore, are you alright?” Lilian asked anxiously.

“I just went for a walk,” he shrugged. “What could happen?”

Lilian replied, “I heard a loud noise. I was terrified when I remembered you’d gone for a walk. Thank goodness you’re okay.”

Gilmore put his arm around her. “Don’t worry. It was just a landslide. I’m fine.”

Relieved, Lilian said, “It’s good you’re alright. Let’s go inside!”

They returned to the villa, along with Gina and the security guards, still discussing the landslide. The night passed quietly.

The next morning, after breakfast, Gilmore and Lilian drove away in the BMW. At the foot of the mountain, Lilian saw ambulances and a crowd. Gilmore knew the boulders had hit Clive’s cars, but their discovery led to emergency response.

Lilian stopped, rolled down the window, and asked a young man, “What’s going on with the ambulances?”

The young man looked terrified. “It’s terrible! A massive boulder rolled down the mountain last night, smashing several cars. Many people are dead!”

Lilian was stunned. “Could that have been the noise last night?” she wondered.
