Chapter 3

Gilmore gave Christine roses, hugged her, and kissed her in public—not because he liked her (he didn't even know her)—but to spite Brandon and Tiffany. Brandon had scoffed that no girl would like a poor guy like Gilmore. So, Gilmore flaunted his affection for a beautiful girl, far more beautiful than Tiffany, right in front of them, aiming to make them jealous.

After school, Gilmore sought out the old man who'd predicted Tiffany's infidelity and her attraction to a rich man. The prediction proved accurate, leading Gilmore to believe the old man possessed uncanny foresight. However, upon returning, Gilmore found the old man gone. Disappointed, Gilmore wondered if he'd already left for Ravenhurst Mountain.

Subconsciously, Gilmore removed a small box from his pocket. Inside, according to the old man, was an elixir with extraordinary properties: "As long as you take it, you'll be immune to all diseases. The mana in the elixir will strengthen your body and make you unconquerable. After the mana goes through all your mana points, you can see anything that others can't see. All the secrets in this world will be revealed to you."

Gilmore, initially skeptical, now believed the old man's claims, but the old man's absence prevented further inquiries.

Gilmore decided to study the elixir. Ten minutes later, in a hotel room, he opened the small box. A strange, refreshing aroma filled the air. Inside was a thumb-sized black pill. He swallowed it; it melted instantly, spreading a warmth throughout his body, culminating in his mana core.

His usually calm mana core erupted like a raging sea, rumbling with immense power that surged through his mana vessels. He felt them expand and strengthen, his bones and muscles crackling with newfound power. Every mana point unblocked, buzzing with energy. A final boom echoed, followed by a cacophony of sounds—cars, tides, seagulls, wind, eagles, horses—as if the world's voices converged upon him. It felt like a new dimension had opened.

His senses heightened dramatically. He smelled gasoline, seawater, flowers, and grass, seemingly from across the globe. His vision sharpened; he saw eagles, horses, mountains, and the sea, a panoramic view of breathtaking scenery, before the images faded.

Dumbfounded, Gilmore realized his senses had been drastically enhanced. He could see, smell, and hear with incredible acuity. Could the old man's words be true? Could he see things others couldn't?

He wondered if he could see Tiffany and Brandon. Instantly, his pupils contracted. He saw them in a luxurious hotel's VIP room, enjoying a meal. Tiffany, flushed after drinking red wine, looked alluring.

Brandon remarked on Gilmore's audacity in offending Christine. Tiffany dismissed him, wanting to enjoy their date. Brandon agreed, dismissing Gilmore as a "poor guy." Tiffany flirted playfully. Gilmore silently sneered, suspecting Tiffany's purity was an act.

He pondered the mention of Christine, a familiar name. He recalled her as Oakhaven University's most beautiful student, from an incredibly wealthy family. He was shocked; he had kissed her at the school gate. Gilmore felt despair.
