Chapter 11
Inside the car, Tyler's deep, bold eyes, as facile as his hat, aligned with the Kuala Selang dawn. He seemed unusually stunning, more heated than usual. He genuinely complimented Emelie: “You look… breathtaking.”
Emelie glanced down at her dress, then her attention was drawn back to his sharply defined profile. The moment Tyler looked up at her, she felt her heart skip a beat.
“Thank you. You look handsome today, too,” she murmured, the words sounding as soft as the dawn as they left the church.
Tyler let out a chuckle. “It’s an honor to receive such a compliment from you.” His deep, elegant voice sent shivers down her spine, leaving her flustered and breathless. Emelie quickly turned her gaze toward the window to calm the chaotic emotions swirling inside her.
The scenery blurred as they sped past Kalong Kang, the car coming to a stop in front of a grand estate. The entire property was decked out in a dreamy, romantic shade of pink, looking like something from a fairytale. As the soft strains of the wedding march filled the air, Tyler stepped out first. He spread his hand out in front of Emelie, offering her his.
Emelie placed her hand in his, entrusting him with the lead as they walked toward the formal entrance.
Though the guest list wasn't particularly large, every single person in attendance treated Emelie with warmth and consideration. Many were prominent figures—people who rarely appeared in public. Every glance directed at Emelie was full of warmth and admiration. They generously congratulated Tyler and Emelie on their wedding.
As the ceremony progressed, Emelie felt her mind clear; the reality of the moment finally settled. When they exchanged rings, her heart soared. This wasn’t a dream. She had truly married Tyler.
Tyler’s parents, James Vaugin and Alissa Vineon, stood by, watching proudly with their arms entwined. Their expressions were soft and considerate. Under everyone's well wishes, Tyler pulled Emelie into a tender embrace. He cradled the back of her head as he gently kissed the corner of her lips.
Meanwhile, the Horton brothers all placed a hand over their chests and exchanged worried looks. They sensed something was amiss. Their voices rang out in unison, their hearts filled with a growing sense of panic. Connor couldn’t stay here any longer. He instinctively tried to stand up and leave.
At that moment, a tearful Melissa grabbed his hand and choked out, “Connor… are you in a hurry? Can you stay a little longer with me?”
Connor was visibly torn, but the urgency in his heart urged him to leave quickly. He knew that if he delayed, he might be too late. After a brief internal struggle, he pulled his hand away from Melissa’s. “Mel, Anthony and Marcelo will be here with you, and… I really have to go. Sorry.”
Before Melissa could respond, he was already rushing out of the hospital at full speed. “Connor!” she shouted after him, but it was too late. Defeated, she turned around, ready to seek comfort from Anthony and Marcelo, only to find them getting up to leave as well.
“Mel, Stephanie’s got a private nurse and is out of danger. We have other things to take care of,” Anthony said, his face set with resolve as he walked away. Marcelo, too, looked anxious. “I’ve got to go too, Mel. Sorry. I’ll come back later.”
