Chapter 50
I took Kelsey to the couch to understand her before she exploded with rage. “Did you just crise me?”
An incinerator was a place for the dead.
Dean Murich grinned, unfazed. “You insulted my friend first. So you can verbally attack others, but I’m not allowed to retaliate? Do you expect me to be graded with you if we’re buah?”
Ela hid behind her. Although Eleanor wasn’t physically strong and didn’t look powerful with her tall and slender figure, she made Eliza feel incredibly safe.
Kele gazed at Eleanor’s flowy dress. She found Eleanor beautiful and a little familiar. She felt as if she’d seen her somewhere before.
Deanos was dressed in designer brands from head to toe and carried an exotic leather purse, making it clear that she was affluent and not to be trifled with.
But Kelsey refused to back down and scoffed. “She’s wearing a fake Chanel; you’re broke, and can’t pretend to be rich. It’s so disgusting that you dare to come to a place like this! Oh, I get it. You’ve one of those take-social-lines, aren’t you?”
Bean shot her a sidelong glance. “And how exactly do you know her dress is fake? Do you have X-ray vision?”
Kelsey stomped her foot. “Because this dress is a limited edition! There’s only one in the entire country, and I bought it!”
Then maybe you should go home and check if yours is the real one.
Kelsey’s eyes widened. “How could mine be a fake?”
Eleanor shrugged. “Who knows? Ours is authentic. I’d suggest you get yours authenticated at a boutique. Otherwise, if someone recognizes it as a knockoff when you wear it out next time, that’d be really embarrassing.”
Eleanor couldn’t be bothered to waste another breath on her. She shot her a sarcastic grin and walked off with Eliza.
Once outside the restaurant, they waited for a ride.
Eliza lowered her head dejectedly. “Ms. Eleanor, it really is a fake.”
Eleanor wasn’t bothered and said, “Even if it is, you didn’t hurt anyone by wearing it. Besides, she’s not the brand owner or the designer, so she has no right to tolerate you. Why should I put up with her nonsense?”
“But next time, try not to wear a knockoff piece. If you like this brand, I’ve got a few dresses I’ve only worn once or twice. You can come to my place and pick one so you can have it if you want.”
Eliza’s eyes glistened with tears. “Ms. Eleanor, I would walk through fire for you!”
She didn’t use proper channels either. She’s definitely going home and verifying it now.
Eleanor smiled, mischief flashing in her eyes. “That woman probably didn’t get her dress through the proper channels either. Let’s see if she dares to open her mouth again next time!”
Everyone in Forstone City’s upper crust knew Eleanor Sandberg was extremely protective of her people. No one was allowed to bully them. When Selena was younger, her two older sisters had once stripped her down in the middle of winter and forced her to kneel outside their house.
At that time, Eleanor had been at the stables learning to ride. The moment she heard about it, she grabbed a riding crop and stormed into the Walker residence. She gave both sisters a brutal beating, then ripped them down in turn and made them kneel in the street.
Sometimes, she believed in letting things go. But more often than not, she believed in retribution.
That reputation had made her famous. After that incident, no one in Forstone City’s upper crust dared to provoke her.
Mallory had been bold enough to mess with her recently, and Eleanor had humiliated her at her birthday party. That was already considered merciful.
The main reason was that, having returned those years earlier, she felt mentally older than her peers. So, she had become slightly more patient and forgiving.
She tapped the curb with the top of her shoe, and suddenly, an idea struck her.
“I’ve got an idea!”
Eliza’s admiration for her had reached its peak that night. “Ms. Eleanor, you are my goddess! You actually came up with an idea in the middle of an argument! What is it?”
