Chapter 27

Brynn was even more confused. She hadn’t been following the news lately, so she had no idea what the new president looked like. But she totally agreed that Dominic was surely good-looking. If the receptionist said so, then it must be him.

Suppressing the giddy excitement in her heart, she responded, “Okay,” and quickly made her way out.

Kylie, who had been watching this whole scene unfold, grew furious. She didn’t expect Brynn to completely ignore her. With a sneer, she scoffed, “Just a regular office worker, yet he dares to be compared to the president?”

But no one paid her any attention. The receptionist was too busy swooning over the “handsome guy,” and Jenna, full of suspicion, followed Brynn downstairs.

When Brynn reached the lobby, Dominic was already there. Even though she knew he was handsome, seeing him now still left her momentarily stunned. He had clearly dressed up for the occasion—black shirt tucked into matching trousers, long legs crossed elegantly as he sat on the sofa. A pair of rimless gold-framed glasses rested on his sharp nose bridge, adding an air of refinement and restraint.

Brynn had to say that no wonder the receptionist was practically dizzy with admiration. He looked like a peacock in full display.

Sensing her gaze, Dominic lifted his head and smiled at her. Then he stood and walked over.

“BrynnieBee, you left in such a hurry this morning,” his voice was gentle as he lifted a large lunch box for her to see. “I brought you breakfast.”

“I whipped this up quickly, so it might not taste that great. But I hope you can have a try.”

Brynn’s heart warmed. “You came so fast! Have you eaten anything?”

“Not yet,” Dominic replied with a casual smile. “I’m fine. As long as you don’t go hungry.”

Brynn couldn’t help but feel touched. She reached out and grabbed his arm.

“Then let’s eat together,” she gave Dominic a soft smile. “There’s no way I can finish this huge lunch box by myself.”

“Alright, whatever you say.” Dominic smiled back, his eyes brimming with love and affection.

Just then, Kylie stepped out of the elevator and caught sight of the scene. The sight of Dominic gazing at Brynn with unwavering devotion sent a pang of jealousy surging through her chest. Even though she had seen them together before, seeing his eyes never leaving Brynn and so full of love only made her go crazy with envy.

“Why does Brynn get to have all this?” Kylie was furious inside. Grinding her teeth, she forced a smile and walked over.

“Your husband brought you breakfast, Brynn?” Kylie acted as if she was innocent. “What is it? Let me guess… some kind of fast food? Those aren’t very healthy, you know.”

She covered her mouth, pretending to be curious while actually looking down on them.

Brynn sighed, already feeling her good mood had been ruined. She had no intention of arguing, but Kylie was just asking to be put in her place.

“What I eat has nothing to do with you,” Brynn replied coldly. “At least my breakfast was made by my husband. Unlike you. That so-called ‘homemade’ breakfast was just cheap takeout. Yet some idiot still treats it like a priceless treasure.”

“You’re making things up!” Kylie shrieked, finally dropping the act. “Brynn, you’re prst jealo…”

Brynn nearly burst out laughing. “Jealous of you? Oh please, don’t make me laugh.”

Kylie’s face flushed red with rage. “You have no proof. How do you know my breakfast was takeout? You’re just making baseless accusations!”

“Oh? You want proof?” Brynn chuckled mockingly before swiftly snatching the food container from Kylie’s hands.

“Hey! What are you doing?” Kylie shouted. “Chase made that for me…”

Before she could finish, Brynn had already opened the container. She lifted the inner package, revealing two big, bold words printed underneath: Dime Diner.

Kylie’s face turned ghostly pale. She was so stunned she couldn’t even speak.

Jenna, who had been skeptical of Dominic before, finally realized she had completely misjudged him. With her misunderstanding cleared, Jenna turned her attention back to Kylie. When she saw the ridiculous scene unfolding, she couldn’t resist making a jab.

“Dime Diner? Oh, I know that place! They are famous for their cheap fast food,” Jenna smirked. “Miss Everett, looks like your boyfriend doesn’t love you quite as much as you thought.”

Kylie burned with embarrassment. ‘How dare these nobodies mock me?’ she bit her lip and thought to herself. Maybe Chase is just too busy to make me breakfast. Blame it on Brynn; if she’s not here, I wouldn’t be humiliated at all!

But seeing Kylie’s expression, Brynn felt incredibly satisfied. ‘Serves Kylie right,’ Brynn grinned. ‘She walked right into this one.’

Smirking, Brynn grabbed Dominic’s arm and walked away, completely ignoring the fuming Kylie.

As they headed toward the stairwell, Dominic noticed the sparkle of triumph in Brynn’s eyes. Thinking about what had happened that morning, he leaned in and whispered, “Does it still hurt?”

Brynn’s smile faded immediately. Her ears turned bright red. And when she remembered how Jenna had misunderstood her earlier, with an embarrassed pout, she punched Dominic’s arm.

“Is this really something you should ask here? You—”

But before she could finish scolding him, she tripped as they stepped into the elevator. Dominic reacted quickly, catching her before she could fall. Startled, Brynn instinctively grabbed onto his waist.

Now, they were wrapped in each other’s arms, holding onto one another tightly.

“Are you okay?” Dominic asked, voice gentle as he looked down at her.

Brynn blinked, feeling a bit dazed. Then, she quickly shook her head. “I’m fine…”

Just then, the elevator doors opened, revealing several colleagues in the middle of discussing what to eat for lunch. The moment they saw the intimate embrace inside the elevator, they all froze.

Brynn blushed instantly. She quickly stepped back, pretending nothing had happened. The colleagues exchanged looks, hesitated for a second, then stepped into the elevator.

“Morning, Ms. Everett,” one greeted politely.

Brynn forced a smile. “Good morning.”

No one spoke further, but the air was thick with awkwardness.

Finally, when they reached the ground floor, the second the doors slid open, Brynn grabbed Dominic and bolted out of the elevator.
