Chapter 50

After Brynn’s words, the Everetts’ faces showed a mix of reactions. Kylie’s face lit up with joy. She’d always wanted to kick Brynn out of the company and become the sole heir of the Everett Group. Now that her wish had come true, she couldn’t be happier.

Maris felt a pang of anxiety. Although Brynn had said she wanted to cut ties with the family, Maris had thought it was just talk. She believed Brynn still cherished her identity as the daughter of the Everett family. But Brynn’s firm declaration of quitting the company in front of everyone took her by surprise.

Randy was furious. He thought Brynn was deliberately going against him, making him look bad. Faced with the mocking glances, Randy could only grit his teeth and glare at Brynn. “You ungrateful girl, do you know what you’re saying? Don’t forget, you still bear the Everett name.”

Brynn sneered, “Mr. Everett, are you getting old and forgetful? It was you who said I’m not part of the Everett family. No matter how much I contribute to the company, I don’t have the right to stay. Now you’re blaming me?”

Randy tried to argue, but Brynn didn’t give him a chance. She pulled out a recording of their previous conversation and played it for everyone to hear. The guests at the party listened in shock as they heard Randy shamelessly demand Brynn’s invitation, threaten to fire her when she refused, and reveal his true colors.

Everyone in Oceanfront knew that years ago, Randy had invested poorly and was drowning in debt. If it weren’t for Brynn dropping out of school and securing a one-hundred-million-dollar project for the company just a month later, the Everett Group would have gone bankrupt. How dare Randy act superior in front of Brynn?

As the guests sympathized with Brynn, Dominic’s cold eyes turned even icier. He knew the Everett family treated Brynn poorly, but he didn’t expect them to be this cruel behind his back. He had planned to spare them because they raised Brynn, but now he realized he had been too lenient.

Dominic sneered, “Mr. Everett, you sure know how to throw your weight around.” His tone was calm, but anyone who listened closely could feel the chilling coldness in it.

Unaware of the impending disaster, Randy said indignantly, “I raised Brynn for twenty years. Even if she’s not part of the Everett family, I still have the right to discipline her. I don’t need outsiders to interfere.”

With that, Randy turned to Brynn and threatened, “Brynn, I’m giving you one last chance. If you beg Mr. Harper for mercy, I’ll let bygones be bygones. But if you insist on being stubborn, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”

Hearing this, Declan and the other bigwigs all prayed for Randy. The last person who spoke to Dominic like that disappeared long ago. Randy not only ignored Dominic but also dared to talk back to Brynn, whom he cherished deeply. It was like Randy had a death wish.

Dominic was seething, but Brynn just raised an eyebrow and smiled brightly, “Before you get ruthless, Mr. Everett, why don’t you check your phone messages first? You might find some pleasant surprises.”

Randy didn’t know what Brynn was up to, but he took out his phone and glanced at it. When he saw over a hundred missed calls, his heart sank.
