Chapter 64

Brynn didn’t ask Dominic how he planned to handle things. Everyone had their secrets. Besides, Dominic wasn’t the type to make empty promises. If he said he’d handle it, then he would.

“If something like this happens again, call me first. I’m your husband. It’s my responsibility to help you,” Dominic said gently.

The staff member who had just walked in to report something froze in shock. What…he still has such a gentle side? Noticing the intruder, Dominic had no choice but to end the call.

“I know, I know. You’re busy. Don’t worry about me. I’m fine,” Brynn reassured him before hanging up. The anxiety in her heart settled after that call.

On the other hand, Chase was fuming. Brynn had been so warm and soft while talking to her so-called husband, and he could hardly stand it. Damn it. That kind of tenderness…it should’ve been his!

“Hah, men are all talk,” Chase sneered as soon as she put her phone away. “Brynn, you don’t actually believe your little government employee of a husband has the power to help you, do you?” He scoffed as Brynn hung up the phone. “He probably doesn’t even understand what’s happening right now.” Help…ha, it would be great if he didn’t make things worse!

“True,” Brynn mused, giving Chase a once-over. “My husband is just a regular civil servant. He’s nothing compared to you…a bankrupt CEO.” Wasn’t this just sarcasm? She could do that too. Her tone was light, but she deliberately emphasized the word “bankrupt.” Chase’s face twisted in fury.

“Fine. If you want to be difficult, don’t blame me for what happens next!” With that, he turned toward the media and raised his voice. “Ladies and gentlemen, I’m her ex-boyfriend! And I can tell you for a fact—she does not have a medical license!”

His words were like a spark hitting gasoline. The reporters just erupted.

“So, what that post said is true?” “Oh my god, how could anyone do such a heartless thing!” “The hospital needs to give us an explanation!”

Chapter 64

The crowd, a mix of media and furious onlookers, surged toward Brynn and Dr. Caldwell, their anger boiling over. Chase, having dropped his bombshell, turned back to Brynn with a smug smile. He mouthed the words: You deserve it. Brynn clenched her fists. She wanted nothing more than to punch this petty, vindictive jerk in the face!

“Wait! Hold on! A new post! The truth is out!” A nurse who had been monitoring social media suddenly shouted. Afraid her voice would be drowned out, she even climbed onto a chair. Her desperate yelling finally made the crowd pause. People hesitated, then pulled out their phones.

And there it was—

[Shocking Reversal!] [What’s the Truth Behind This Corrupt Doctor?]

The post included a video—first, footage of Dr. Creed ordering security to throw Paul out of the hospital. Then, Brynn stepping in to defend Brenda. After that, Brynn walking out of the OR and announcing that the surgery had been a success—followed by a heartfelt embrace between her and Brenda. And finally, as the cherry on top—a shot of Paul, post-surgery, stable in his hospital bed, his vitals looking perfectly normal.

The entire hallway fell silent. This clarification video is loud and clear. And it slapped those noisy people right in the face. It just went viral in seconds.

The corridor was silent for a while. It was as awkward as it had been noisy. Dr. Caldwell, who had been on the verge of a breakdown, finally let out a long breath. Finally! Justice! He was an old man, for heaven’s sake. He had nearly gone down in disgrace!
