Chapter 74
Kylie scrutinized Brynn with suspicion. “Are you following me?”
Brynn didn’t say a word; she just rolled her eyes. She couldn’t even be bothered to respond and simply stepped aside, intending to walk past her. However, Kylie blocked her path again.
“Why aren’t you saying anything? Feeling guilty?” Kylie widened her eyes, convinced she’d figured it out. “You must have known why I came here and deliberately showed up to ruin things!”
Damn Brynn, can’t she just let her be?
Brynn, on the other hand, felt utterly speechless—so speechless that it was almost funny. How on earth did her brain work like this?
“Kylie, if you’re suffering from delusions, go get treated. Stop acting like a rabid dog,” Brynn rolled her eyes. “Is this hotel owned by your family? Am I not allowed to have a meal here?”
Kylie was so infuriated by Brynn’s retort that she snapped, “You… you’re just twisting words!”
A place like this was so out of the way—how could Brynn possibly be here by chance? She must have found out she was searching for the Divine Doctor and deliberately came to ruin things, trying to sabotage her marriage with Chase!
“I’m warning you—you better leave right now,” Kylie’s face darkened with menace. “Otherwise, I’ll make sure both you and your husband lose your jobs! Let’s see how you survive then!”
Wow, that was… confirmed. Kylie’s condition had worsened. Before, she was just a little off—now, she was completely unhinged.
“I saw this quote online once,” Brynn mused, “that said a lot of people nowadays are actually mildly brain-damaged, but they don’t know it themselves.” She glanced at Kylie and chuckled. “Seems pretty accurate.”
With that, she shoved Kylie aside and headed upstairs.
“You—!” Kylie clenched her fists in rage, her face flushing red as she glared at Brynn’s back. “Brynn, you wretched—!” She lunged forward, aiming to shove Brynn.
Chapter 74
The commotion downstairs was loud enough to be heard clearly from above. Gary, who had been waiting below, couldn’t help but be curious. He paused for a moment, then stepped out to take a look.
He thought, “Well, the Divine Doctor’s apprentice hadn’t arrived yet, anyway. I might as well enjoy the show. If they do show up, I can just say I was waiting outside to greet them.”
“Oh, just a couple of women quarreling,” Gary shook his head. “Probably over some love drama.” Ah, young people these days….
“You dared push me?” Kylie, still on the ground, glared at Brynn in fury.
Brynn nearly rolled her eyes out of their sockets. “Please. You tried to push me, I dodged, and you fell. How is that my fault? And what is this, a staged accident scam?”
Kylie burned with humiliation. Scrambling to her feet, she charged at Brynn again in rage. Brynn sneered, easily grabbing Kylie’s wrist. With a swift pull, she spun her around and locked her in place. Kylie was instantly unable to move.
“I’ve put up with you for long enough,” Brynn said icily.
“L-Let me go!”
Hearing the murmurs of diners around them, Kylie felt her face burn with shame. She lashed out in frustration.
Brynn smirked. “Feeling embarrassed now? Funny how that didn’t seem to be a concern when you were the one harassing me.”
Kylie fumed with rage but couldn’t break free from Brynn’s grip. In her frustration, she spotted Gary standing on the second floor and quickly called out for help.
“Hey! You up there! Can you help me!”
Gary froze. He just came to watch the show!
“You’re a grown man, and you’re just standing there watching a girl get bullied?” Kylie attempted to guilt-trip him. “Are you even a real man?”
Gary’s expression instantly darkened. What kind of nonsense is this? If she weren’t a girl, he would’ve already given her a proper talking-to. But now…
Without a word, Gary turned on his heel to leave.
“Wait! Don’t go!” Seeing that he was about to walk away, Kylie panicked.
Chapter 74
“I’m Kylie Everett, the eldest daughter of the Everett Group! If you help me, you’ll be handsomely rewarded. But ignore me, I’ll make sure you never find a job!” Kylie threatened, using her identity as the eldest daughter of the Everett family.
In Kylie’s mind, being the heiress of a corporation was practically the same as being a chaebol in a K-drama; her authority was absolute, and ordinary people would be terrified to cross her.
Yet, the moment she finished speaking, she noticed the man pause in his steps. Gary frowned, finding the girl’s words as unbearable as her poor manners. But to be on the safe side, he still asked, “Is your last name Everett?”
“Yes, I am Kylie Everett!”
His friend had mentioned the Divine Doctor’s apprentice, calling her “Ms. Everett.” And now, right before him, was a woman claiming to be “Everett…” Could it be—was she the Divine Doctor’s apprentice?
