Valerie looked at the breakfast on the table after Matthew left, feeling lost. She had thought Matthew would be a big eater, but he ate less than she did. Not wanting to waste the food, she put it in the fridge for later.

Then, Katherine called. Valerie was a workaholic and never took a day off. Katherine, thinking Valerie might be sick, wanted to check on her.

"I'm fine, Katherine. I took a day off to move," Valerie said.

"I can help with that. Give me your address," Katherine replied.

"You're moving? Why didn't you tell me? It's my day off today. I can help," Katherine said.

"Actually, I didn't know I was moving until yesterday," Valerie thought.

Katherine insisted, so Valerie gave her the address. It was an old apartment. When Katherine arrived, Valerie was dragging her belongings downstairs. "Sorry, I was delayed on the road. Which room do you live in? I'll go get your stuff," Katherine said.

Katherine was about to rush upstairs when Valerie stopped her. "No need for that. All my stuff is here," she said.

Katherine stared in disbelief at Valerie's belongings: a suitcase, two boxes, a backpack, and a microwave. "All of them!" Katherine, who loved shopping, thought her clothes alone would fill five large suitcases.

Valerie thought for a moment and took a metal cage from behind her back. Inside was a hamster. "There's also this one," she said.

Valerie wasn't stingy, but having grown up in a poor family, she'd never had a strong sense of financial security. Because of this, she was always cautious about spending, especially on larger items. She carefully considered whether she could take them with her if she ever had to move, and whether they were truly necessary. Over time, this minimalist lifestyle had grown on her.

Even the hamster wasn't her idea. It had been left behind by the previous tenant, who had left in a hurry. The hamster had a bald ear, so no one wanted it. Valerie felt sorry for it and took it in.

Katherine pulled a wry face, took the cage with one hand, and grabbed the microwave with the other. Seeing two cardboard boxes still on the ground, she remembered something and shouted towards the white BMW, "Caleb, come and help!"

Only then did Valerie notice someone else. A lean, languid boy got out of the car. He yawned while walking over, as if he could lie down and sleep in the road at any moment. "You got me up too early. I think I'm going to pass out any minute. Don't ever do that again," he said.

"Come on. I have my reason," Katherine said softly. Then she introduced him to Valerie. "Caleb Lane, my boyfriend."

Valerie smiled. "Sorry, I didn't know you were bringing him. Thank you for the help."

Caleb stopped yawning. "You're the friend Katherine's talked so much about. Don't worry, it's just a small favor. You've helped her a lot."

For a moment, Valerie felt she was being measured from head to toe. But Caleb carried the boxes to his car after finishing his words, so Valerie thought it might have been her misperception.

After getting into the car, Katherine told Valerie how she met Caleb. They met playing a game in which Caleb was quite skilled. When someone bullied Katherine during the game, Caleb helped her. Over time, they got to know each other, discovering they lived in the same city. They decided to meet in person and eventually fell in love.

Caleb was now a full-time streamer with a decent income, but working until midnight was common. He had streamed until 2:00 a.m. that day. Katherine hoped he could switch to a more stable job.

Caleb disagreed. "Actually, my job's quite good, but there's still a car loan to pay. Besides, Katherine, I'm doing this for our future. I have to save more money so I can buy a house to marry you."

Katherine frowned. "Working so late isn't good for your health. As for our future, we should work for it together."

"Katherine, I see you working hard every day, but you don't earn much money. As your boyfriend, I feel it's my responsibility to ensure you live a good life. I don't mind working hard for us both, and when I start making a lot of money in the future, you'll never have to work hard again," Caleb said.

Katherine was about to respond, but her heart melted at Caleb's sweet talk. Valerie was also relieved. She'd thought Caleb frivolous at first, but now he seemed reliable.

Without warning, the car shook violently, causing Valerie to feel dizzy. Caleb had been distracted and crashed into the car in front of him. After calming down, Valerie was shocked to realize he had collided with a Porsche.
