Chapter 110: Xia Yangyang Turns the Tables
Xia Yangyang explained seriously, “I did meet Chen Yu that night. We ate at the snack street—sour and spicy vermicelli and lamb skewers. I never lied. I’m sorry I didn’t give you more details; I was afraid you’d be upset. Chen Yu is rather cavalier and likes to joke at my expense. But I swear my role in this film has nothing to do with him, and there will never be a romantic relationship between us.”
Evidently, she had wronged Xia Yangyang, yet Yangyang calmly explained her actions. This made Lu Yao feel both ashamed and moved.
Lu Yao said, “I’ve come to understand that Chen Yu and I are from different worlds. I used to admire him, but I know I don’t deserve to like him, especially now. Yangyang, I won’t make the same mistakes. Even if you end up with Chen Yu, I’ll wish you both well.”
Xia Yangyang laughed and cried at the same time. “I would never get together with Chen Yu.”
Lu Yao continued, “But Chen Yu really likes you.”
Otherwise, she wouldn't have been so jealous.
Xia Yangyang felt the explanation was going nowhere. “Let’s say someone loves stinky tofu—thinks it’s the best food in the world. That doesn’t mean everyone will like it, understand?”
Lu Yao was taken aback. “Xia Yangyang, are you calling Chen Yu stinky tofu? He’s the most handsome man in the world!”
“He’s unpleasant and obstinate, always acting high and mighty. If that’s not stinky tofu, what is?”
“Hey, Xia Yangyang, that’s going too far.”
They bickered as usual, eventually regaining their usual rhythm.
A sharp female voice came from the door. “You two have a great bond. I don’t know whether to call you naive or foolish, Xia Yangyang. She almost ruined you, yet you joke around with her nonchalantly. You really deserve to be taken advantage of.”
Xia Yangyang and Lu Yao looked towards the door; Xia Weiwei was standing there.
Lu Yao stood up. “Xia Weiwei, you used me!”
Xia Weiwei walked in. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Xia Yangyang said coldly, “If you truly didn’t know, how would you know she almost ruined my face?”
Xia Weiwei was speechless.
Xia Yangyang said, “Xia Weiwei, I know you incited everything. I will hold you accountable.”
Xia Weiwei burst into laughter. “Even if it was me, what evidence do you have? And Xia Yangyang, with your soft personality, what can you possibly do to me?”
Xia Yangyang sneered. “Indeed, I can’t do anything to you. But what if Chen Yu finds out you arranged the girl who threw eggs at the press conference? Do you think he would ask Director Yang to kick you out of the cast? Knowing his temperament, no one could stop him. Remember, you’re a minor supporting actress, but Chen Yu is the lead. Furthermore, if Director Yang finds out your meddling injured Chen Yu and delayed filming, do you think he might blacklist you?”
Xia Weiwei’s face changed instantly. “Xia Yangyang, stop slandering me. That was clearly Chen Yu’s fan.”
“You said it was Chen Yu’s fan, but that person showed no admiration for him. After hitting him, she insulted me without remorse. Xia Weiwei, there’s no need to deny it. That woman is still in the police station and has confessed everything, including the three thousand yuan you gave her. Are you sure you want to test this?”
Xia Weiwei turned pale. She knew Yangyang had returned to settle scores with Lu Yao; Xia Yangyang wasn't a fool. She had come to watch the drama unfold, but Xia Yangyang had turned the tables on her.
