Chapter 12: Jealous Men are So Immature

Mu Liancheng appeared to be consoling Gu Qichen, but he was clearly enjoying his misfortune.

Gu Qichen turned his head and said indifferently, “When I arrived, I saw a bunny girl selling imported alcohol. If I’m not mistaken, it was Wen’s youngest sister.”

Mu Liancheng’s face instantly changed. “You saw her earlier? Why didn’t you tell me sooner!” He stood up, grabbed his coat, and muttered threateningly as he left, “Damn girl, don’t let me catch you running around like this, or I’ll break your legs.”

Xue Shaotang chuckled. “Such a hypocrite. He claims to dislike village girls from his hometown, but his actions say otherwise. I bet they’ve already slept together.”

Ah K anxiously asked, “Second Brother, does Sister Bingbing know about your marriage?” He implied that if she did, her public proposal wouldn't make sense.

Xue Shaotang added, “Bingbing’s strong-willed. If she knew about your marriage, she’d probably tear that girl apart. Now that the girl’s filed for divorce, it’s best to let it slide. She’s just playing with you.”

Gu Qichen glared icily. “Get lost!”

Feigning innocence, Xue Shaotang wondered why Gu Qichen was so angry when he was the one with the problem.

Shen Shichuan intervened, “Both of you, leave. I’ll talk to him.”

Feeling the tension, Xue Shaotang left. Soon, only Gu Qichen and Shen Shichuan remained.

Shen Shichuan poured two glasses of wine, handing one to Gu Qichen. “I checked Chen Yu’s credit card records. They booked separate rooms in Europe, proving nothing happened. And despite his playboy image, he’s somewhat of a gentleman. Now that he knows Xia Yangyang is your wife, he shouldn’t cause further trouble.”

“Inciting Yangyang to divorce me and having the divorce agreement prepared—isn't that outrageous enough? I suspect Chen Yu’s involvement. If he meddles again, I’ll ruin his career.”

Gu Qichen’s childish outburst only occurred when speaking with Shen Shichuan.

Shen Shichuan chuckled. “Young Master Gu, seeking private revenge isn’t becoming of you. But you can’t blame Chen Yu entirely. Yangyang likely saw the proposal at Lake Bay, so it’s no wonder she filed for divorce. Anyone would choose Shen Manbing over her; she’s probably heartbroken.”

Gu Qichen scoffed. “Heartbroken? She’s thrilled to be leaving. She’s completely heartless.”

Shen Shichuan laughed. A man’s jealousy can be as childish as a woman’s, especially Gu Qichen’s. All advice seemed futile. After twenty years of smooth sailing, he’s finally met his match in love. His meticulously planned life has taken a detour, and Shen Shichuan wasn’t sure of the impact Xia Yangyang would have. It seemed bigger than he anticipated.

As Shen Shichuan prepared to leave, he added, “All night, you haven't asked about Manbing. You’ve been childhood friends for years, and rejecting her publicly broke her heart. Though I suppressed news of the proposal, some smaller outlets released parts of the video, inflaming public opinion and hurting Manbing even more.”

I removed the unnecessary chapter numbers and translator note. I also improved sentence structure, word choice, and flow for clarity and readability. The dialogue was made to sound more natural.
