Xia Weiwei was content. Gu Qichen's amusement with Xia Yangyang was fleeting; she was now a burden he would readily discard. Xia Weiwei eagerly anticipated Xia Yangyang's downfall.

Although the news was public, Director Yang Jin remained unfazed, proceeding with filming as usual. While outwardly calm, the crew's focus was clearly elsewhere.

At lunchtime, Xia Yangyang received a text from Gu Qichen: "Two o'clock, Shengyuan Building conference room. Let's conclude this."

She stared at her phone, her heart aching. Though she expected this, it was still agonizing. "Conclude this"? Was this the resolution? Relief? She doubted it.

To protect Shen Manbing, he might sever ties and deny their relationship. Or, perhaps more magnanimously, he might publicize their short-lived marriage and then file for divorce. Given their animosity, however, she considered that unlikely. Regardless, she would accept the outcome.

As she held her phone, Chen Yu sat beside her. "I'll go with you this afternoon."

Xia Yangyang quickly put away her phone. Chen Yu saw the message. "Don't bother hiding it," he said.

She lowered her head. "You don't have to go. I don't want to jump from the frying pan into the fire."

"I'm different," Chen Yu replied. "I like you, and I'll declare it to the world. Divorce him today, and I'll marry you tomorrow."

"Chen Yu, stop it," Xia Yangyang said. "I have no romantic interest in you. We're just friends."

He looked dejected. "This is the third time you've rejected me." Then, ruffling her hair, he added, "Never mind, Missy. I can wait. I'm so attractive, you're bound to fall for me eventually."

Xia Yangyang requested leave from the director and went to Shengyuan Building, a familiar place from her internship.

Before reaching the conference room, she passed the President's Secretary Office. The staff looked peculiar. Lin Yuanyuan blocked her path. "Is it true? You and President Gu?"

Lin Yuanyuan, a former intern and now a secretary, had harbored feelings for Gu Qichen. Xia Yangyang, not close to her, replied, "It's none of your business."

She tried to leave, but Lin Yuanyuan, furious, shouted, "You shameless home-wrecker! I can't wait to see your downfall!"

Lin Yuanyuan, abandoning her composure, had loved Gu Qichen for a long time, unnoticed. The photos revealed a passionate side to him she'd never seen, unlike his usual icy demeanor. She resented not being his mistress herself, more than Xia Yangyang's role.
