Chapter 18: No Kissing Scenes, No Bed Scenes

Xia Yangyang spent the entire day assigning roles. That evening, she convened a meeting in the lecture hall, distributing scripts for the school's production of "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai." She would play Zhu Yingtai, Li Jiashu would play Liang Shanbo, and Wen Xiaochu would portray Yinxing, Zhu Yingtai's maidservant.

"Tonight, everyone needs to study the script carefully," Xia Yangyang announced. "Tomorrow, we begin official rehearsals. We only have half a month before our performance against Kim Fei’er’s team in the East-West Hall. I expect everyone's best effort."

The cast was enthusiastic. By nine o'clock, Xia Yangyang arrived at Maple Villa, where Gu Qichen had just returned home.

"Why are you home so late?" he asked.

Xia Yangyang explained her involvement in the school's cultural festival drama.

"A drama performance? Are there any kissing scenes?" Gu Qichen inquired.

Xia Yangyang laughed. "Is that your only concern?"

"If you want to act professionally and enter the entertainment industry, I won't stop you," Gu Qichen stated. "However, I have one condition: no kissing scenes, no bed scenes, and no overly intimate scenes."

"What if I can't control the situation?" Xia Yangyang asked.

"Then, worst comes to worst, I'll be your stand-in," Gu Qichen replied casually.

"If that happens," Xia Yangyang said, "the media will probably headline, 'CEO of the mighty Shengyuan Group has an odd hobby of being his wife's kissing scene double.'"

As Gu Qichen removed his coat and leaned toward Xia Yangyang, he whispered in her ear, "I don't mind."

His suggestive whisper tickled her ear, but exhaustion overcame her. She gently pushed him away. "It's just a play. No kissing scenes, no romantic scenes. You can relax."

Gu Qichen feigned disappointment. "What a pity. If there were a bed scene, I could've made a cameo."

"What would you cameo as, a bed?"

Gu Qichen was speechless.

Xia Yangyang didn't tell Gu Qichen about her bet with Kim Fei’er, nor that Gu Zhaohan was on Kim Fei’er's team. She wanted to spare him worry; she considered it a childish student conflict, beneath his considerable responsibilities. She also feared telling him would make him think she was complaining about Gu Zhaohan, potentially increasing his dislike. Since Gu Zhaohan wasn't obligated to help, she let it go after a good night's sleep.

The next day, rehearsals began. The university had two halls, East and West, where their performances would be staged simultaneously in a fortnight. The East Hall, much older and smaller than the West Hall, was in significantly worse condition. Since they lacked acting advantages, Xia Yangyang sought a location advantage. Knowing campus logistics managed both halls, she applied for and received the key to the West Hall for rehearsals.

That morning, she and several cast members moved props to the West Hall. After lunch, they prepared for afternoon rehearsals. However, upon arrival, they found all their props dumped outside, forming a small pile. Inside, Kim Fei’er was directing the disposal of more props: "Throw this, this, and this, all out"
