Chapter 218/219: I’m Not as Despicable as You Think!

Xia Yangyang had returned to her room when Gu Qichen followed her. An argument ensued. Gu Mingzhu, witnessing the altercation, approached them. Xia Yangyang ceased arguing upon seeing Gu Mingzhu.

"What's going on?" Gu Mingzhu asked. "You were fine a moment ago. Why are you fighting?"

Xia Yangyang remained silent. Gu Qichen declared, "Sister, we're leaving," taking Xia Yangyang's hand and pulling her outside. Xia Yangyang resisted.

Their conflict continued. Gu Zhaohan entered the room, appearing troubled. Gu Mingzhu called to him several times, but he ignored her and went upstairs, causing Gu Mingzhu to frown.

In the car, Xia Yangyang remained silent, Gu Qichen wore a thunderous expression. Finally, Xia Yangyang broke the silence.

"Gu Qichen," she asked, "why did you say that? Don't you trust me? How am I supposed to face Gu Zhaohan now? What do you want him to think?"

Gu Qichen slammed on the brakes, stopping the car. His voice was icy. "How can I trust you when you constantly consider him?"

Xia Yangyang was stunned. "It's not about considering him. I just don't understand your accusations. What have I done to make you think my relationship with Gu Zhaohan is ambiguous? You need evidence to accuse me. Your baseless accusations are unacceptable."

Xia Yangyang reflected that she knew Gu Qichen well; he wasn't petty or prone to jealousy, especially not toward his nephew. This was absurd. Why did he view her this way?

"Evidence? Your behavior lately speaks for itself," Gu Qichen retorted.

Xia Yangyang was furious. What had she done? Gu Qichen's accusations were unfounded, delivered coldly and harshly, as if he were certain of her guilt, unconvinced by any defense. Why should she even defend herself?

Overwhelmed by grievance, Xia Yangyang gave up. "Gu Qichen, I'm done proving my innocence. Clear-minded people will see the truth. Talking is pointless," she said.

After a pause, Gu Qichen warned, "Xia Yangyang, you are not allowed to approach Xiao Han anymore."

The warning chilled Xia Yangyang. He believed their relationship was not only ambiguous but that she was pursuing the closeness, perhaps even seducing Gu Zhaohan. Given Gu Zhaohan's aloof nature, the implication was that she was the initiator.

Xia Yangyang was incredulous. "Gu Qichen, I'm not as despicable as you think!" she practically shouted, opening the car door and running off. Gu Qichen didn't follow.
