Xia Yangyang stormed in, demanding, "Xia Weiwei, what are you doing?"

Only then did she see Xia Weiwei holding a check. The amount was illegible. Xia Yangyang exclaimed, "What's that? Give it to me!"

Xia Weiwei quickly hid the check in her purse, smiling, "This is a token of appreciation from my brother-in-law, Xia Yangyang. When was the last time you visited home? Our father's company is facing huge problems. My brother-in-law's help is only fair; we're family. Unless, of course, you don't consider him family."

"Xia Weiwei, I'd be a fool to trust you. Even if Father's company is in trouble, I should be the one he contacts, not you. What business do you have with him? How dare you shamelessly ask him for money?"

Xia Weiwei was furious. The once submissive Xia Yangyang had grown increasingly arrogant since marrying Gu Qichen. However, with Gu Qichen present, Xia Weiwei maintained her composure, concealing her resentment. "So, now that you're married into wealth and have a thriving entertainment career, you look down on us? If not for this crisis, I wouldn't have had the nerve to ask my brother-in-law. He didn't object, yet you unjustly accuse me. If you don't trust me, ask Father yourself."

Tears welling, Xia Weiwei appeared wronged. She glanced at Xia Yangyang, noticing Gu Qichen's gaze was fixed on Xia Yangyang, ignoring her. Knowing Xia Yangyang's stubborn aversion to owing anyone, even Gu Qichen, Xia Weiwei feared she would return the money.

Turning to Gu Qichen, she said, "Brother-in-law, I must leave."

Xia Yangyang tried to stop her, but Gu Qichen intervened, holding Xia Yangyang's arm. "What's the rush? You came to see me; why leave so soon?"

Xia Yangyang fumed, "Gu Qichen, what did you do? Why did you give her money!"

Gu Qichen chuckled, pulling Xia Yangyang onto his lap. "Did you eat dynamite? Why are you so angry?"

"Gu Qichen, what's going on?"

Seeing her anger, Gu Qichen, initially amused, decided against further provocation. He explained, "Xia Weiwei asked for a five-million loan, saying your father had financial problems, so I lent it to her."

Xia Yangyang frowned. "How could you just give her the money? Do you believe everything she says?"

Gu Qichen replied, "It's just five million. Besides, I've heard your father's recent investments have failed. Since she came to me openly, everyone likely knows. We can ask when we return home. If there are problems, it's my duty to help."

Xia Yangyang's brows furrowed. Her relationship with Xia Liangdong was strained due to Liu Ruyan, but she wouldn't ignore serious company problems—especially considering her mother's role in its founding.

What she couldn't tolerate was Xia Liangdong's silence and Xia Weiwei's direct approach to Gu Qichen for money.
